  11. try Jvise instead of J-vise... that silly hyphen... just sayin'... I think this is the one he wrote about . That's the one... to include the oak tying platform...
  12. Mr Powershooter and Mr FRn... et al... Thank's for your kind encouragement... IMHO: Photographing my phlyz makes me a better tyer and/or tier... sharing the results, all the better... Sometimes I'll sleep on an idea or shot for DAZE and then it happens... When "it" comes together, the entire process can be quite consuming and a pure pleasure... 'several additional angles from yesterevening's exercise... [that I slept on and finished this morning before coffee]
  13. Mini Welded Wide Body Tunnel Hull... on a Preditor #10... for Speckled Trout around Beaufort Inlet... Wrapped n' Welded Broad Spectrum Stimulator variant... on a #2 barbless Partridge Patriot Stinger...

  17. Photobucket OK at this end... I'm pheather challenged as well... a salt water buck tail knuckle head, that's me... Always looking into the bins at shows for colors and textures... The Bear's Den is my shopping ground zero now... they have everything I need, and more! 'was part of the Kenny Abrames flat wing movement way back when... and have my share of long hackles... more recently have gravitated to Whitting COQ DE LEON in white or pardo or ginger... that's what I'm mostly using in my current tying... onedayatatime...
  18. Mr B... Cheeerz... Have at it... Stripah Cheeekz... closer = better [except for snakes]... Sparse fox or buck tail... maybe one more darker phlank pheather... gap be gone... I'll often "contemplate" a phly design for DAZE before it actually materializes... it's the "process"...
  19. It's cold n' wet and my headz not in the SBS game... on hindsight, 'could have used another phlank pheather on port and starboard... the empty head effect would have been better camouflaged... it'll phish...! Lapstrake Insinuendo...
  20. You and Kenduardo have me thinkin' about a phuzzie lapstrake notion and doing another pictorial StepByStep... I tend to mull the creative process over in my head and then make it happen in the Jawz... Stand by for news... Photos at eleven... Soonerorlater... 'something like this from my wayback machine... Ken... do those J-jawz look familiar...?!
  21. AUSGEZEICHNET ! so many pheatherz, so little thyme...!
  22. Wrapped n' Welded... SBS... tying and welding...
  23. Thank's Mr dflanagan... et al... If you get the chance, check out Gunnar Brammer on Facebook... He is knowledgeable and eloquent... Wise beyond his years, he has some excellent material management tutorials that are rich with solid information... with that said... I was an epoxy kind'a guy until the UV light went ON in my head and I've enthusiastically embraced Light Cured Acrylics ever since... Sort'a like epoxy, but the LCA's "cure on demand" and make "Phly Welding" a curious and viable option... Some purists may call it "blasphemy" [to each their own]... Welding works for me... allow me to create my phuzzie notions... As a rule, I tie in phur [fur] and buck tail with conventional thread techniques, and pheatherz as well, when thread is suitable... Once in position, welding in pheatherz helps eliminate the phrustrating "hackle roll"... On most of my phlyz, I'll encapsulate eyez with LCA to complete the head... [durable and effective]... and they have the look I'm shooting for... "Wrapped n' Welded" would indicate a combination of Tying AND Welding... "Welded Wide Body Tunnel Hull" involves Welding in phlank pheatherz and encapsulated eyez... Bueller...? Bueller...? ANYONE...?!
  24. stumbled upon an interesting self-sustaining resource... Good Shadow...! I don't need no stinkin' Carnivorous Arctic Goat... [PB]...
