I'll be fishing out of choko next week and I was wondering if anyone can give me a water clarity report. I've been watching the weather for the last few days but need a baseline to work with.

I was just in Spain a few weeks ago. I can understand why you miss it.

Flats, most threads wonder off a bit and then get back on track. Telling people not to wonder or Hi jack is not likely to work and quickly gets people to start ignoring your posts.

Not to mention Mike telling you about spelling was completely on topic as you asked us what we thought about your video and that was in the video.

 

 

On the fly and video.

Nice job keeping things moving. If I was tying it I would turn the Zonker strip over since the fly is going to ride point up on the bottom id want the fur up for movement.

 

Figure eight around the eyes not only builds up a taper but helps protect the threads. One thing I noticed you never do, atleast not on camera is head cement or put something on the front threads. It helps alot with durability.

 

I think you meant to use wander not "wonder", and "atleast" isn't a word. At least a bit ironic.

I DIY'd one for the sole purpose of using it while fishing from my kayak. Eventually, I'm going to rig it up to wear when I'm fishing grassy banks that always seem to snag line... I don't usually use one when I'm wading.

You describe exactly the type of fishing I do. What did you use for your DIY. I fish out of a Trident Prowler. It had loads of snags, all around.....

I'm a weekend warrior as far as fishing goes and I've heard that I'm in my "prime earning years" so time at the vise is usually between 3:00 and 4:30 am the morning of a pending trip so mostly its coffee or water for me just depends on whether or not I'll have time to stop for coffee on the way.

Carp fly fishing has the potential to save urban fisheries all over the US.

I've been following this swap and its good to see its still rolling along. This would be ideal for a tying club to do where the time is reduced with everyone being local.

Biggest fish contests would a fun "tie-in" for a group of local chums fishing the same general waters.

I have been skiff shopping for a few years and I wondering if anyone can give some feed back on these boats.

I have already made and have used a stripping basket. I bought a Friskars leaf basket and cut a piece of plywood to match the bottom for weight. Worked well enough.

My dad lives in Florida and has an Action Craft flats boat. He isn't a fly fisherman and the boat isn't outfitted with any fly fisherman specific improvements. I spend enough time fishing from the boat (when I leave the frozen north) to justify throwing some money at it to make it a better platform for me(selfish kid). I don't know the first thing about outfitting a flats boat and I was hoping someone could provide some insight into platform options.

Do all platforms require modifications to the deck, and where would I find a good product and installer in the Punta Gorda area. The boat has a trolling motor.

Flies are sorted and will be out in the mail to everyone tomorrow. Sorry for my absence as of late. Family has gotten extremely hectic lately. Ya'll ate going to live these flies there are some really nice ones here.

FWIW, I just finished a swap (Inspire a Tier) and Steve P vanished. Frankly, I'm surprised given he's an "advanced" member. I sent 3 PM's and no response, so who knows...

I have tried to contact Steve P through here and FB as well as directly but no reply from him. Odd that he would do this knowing how long he has been around and participated in numerous swaps, but due to the fact that he has not replied to me yet has posted on FB that shows me there are no extenuating circumstances other than the fact that he has decided to screw other members. I will give him till Friday as a last chance to make good on this to everyone then after that he will be completely banned from the website.

I just got a hold of him on the phone. He said he will send them out tomorrow. Let me know if/when you guys start receiving them please.

Thanks for civil and level-headed comment.

We don't know the facts of his circumstances, sad that he hasn't communicated.

I am not part of this swap, but somewhat saddened by the severe name calling and invective remarks that have prevailed.

I hope this thread will just close down soon and everyone will move on.

If Steve does call the forum moderator and explain, I hope he will get his due ear time.

The swapmiester's actions are beyond defense. Please read the entire thread before casting dirt upon those who's flies were STOLEN.

Put me down for whatever swap you want to run. Then sit and sort a dozen flies, there's always a few who haven't put on toe tags. You count them and sort them, then go thru them again because you end up with an extra and find it's for you but swapper forgot to mention he tossed in an extra for you. Then, when you hjave everything ready to go you go to post and someone put wrong postage on, or included money you have to buy the stamps with, or overseas or Canada where you have to sit and fill out a customs slip. Believe me, it's not the way you call it. I'm first on your swap list...just pick a category.

 

I also want to point out that the person you speak of (I assume) has been around this board for over 8 years, has been in good standing on swaps before, and I THINK I've done one of his swaps before. I do know this. Calling any long term member a degenerate would get you your exit card on many boards, and rightfully so since in my time here this has not been the type of forum for name calling or threats.

This question was quasi-hypothetical if that makes sense. Yes, I am involved in a swap where the swap miester appears to have stolen our flies, but I am not going to the police wasting their time on this degenerate.

I haven't been a swap miester granted, but how long does it take to open 11 envelopes, sort 12 different flies into 12 piles and then put those flies in 11 pre-addressed and postage paid envelopes and then drop'em in the mail. If you can't do the right thing at least do the minimum by sending the flies back to the tiers or divide them and send without including your own flies. (if you couldn't get around to tying them).

Cut him some slack, alright, whatever. I've never stolen anything in my life so it pisses me off when someone steals from me. I know its just flies and if he's keeping them he needs more than I do.

Has anyone ever considered filing a police report on a swap organizer that keeps all the flies. Each fly retails for $5 = (11 x 5) x 11 = $605 of stolen goods if there are 11 swappers plus the bum swap miester.

The address and name of the degenerate is known.

The forum has swap rules that could be argued to be type of agreement and there would also be a record of the criminal's agreement through posts on the forum.

If 11 people make a complaint to the local police department about one guy, I'm pretty sure the police are gonna do something about it, I mean if someone stole my bike and it had a value of $600 and I knew who did it and had proof, and also knew where the person lived, calling the police would be an afterthought, I would have to try real hard not to drive over there kick in the front door and smash the suspect's face.

I haven't gotten mine yet.

I just talked to one of Steve's buddies who got a text from Steve while we were on the phone. STEVE IS FINE!!!!!!

I'm assuming the flies are in the mail and he just needed the weekend to get caught up on some stuff.
