The hook is metal so you just use the flat jaw to snap around your hook then the fly tying material will break and come off.

Hi all, I noticed that lot of people have problem to recycle their old fly hooks. Some of them burn it and most of them use blade to clean it. However, I will post a video tomorrow and show you guys a nice and fast way to clean it. Here is my video on youtube:
