  4. Does anyone know how to get a hold of silvercreek or does he have a website to purchase his resins? I tried to PM him but his box is full. Thanks Blane
  5. Thank you, it is for a great cause. Blane
  6. Thank you to Idaho RC, we received the bunch of flies today in the mail, they will look great when I get them into boxes for the auction. Thank you again. Blane
  7. Fisherboy, that gun will benefit the fly tying by supplying plenty of feathers and fur for the tying stash. Blane
  8. What bird is the blue/yellow fly from? Blane
  9. Again, I would like to thank all of you folks for helping out with this project. Later today I'm going to visit my local VFW to see if any of them would like to join the group I am starting in January that is going to learn to tye flies, amd meets twice a month, and maybe some of them would like to take part in the PHW retreats if they would like to learn to fly fish and help others to heal from the tragedy of war trauma. This is a cause that I can totally get into, being a vet helps me relate to the guys a lot better than those that haven't served. I hope I got all of you down so far, and just send me a PM when you want the addy. Blane
  10. No way Mike, why do you think he decided to do it now, he's waiting for you to get there to do the heavy lifting part of the job!! Blane
  11. Steve, do you ever rest? Every time you seem to post it is about a new, usually bigger and better project that you are about to tackle, we now know how you've kept the weight off, you never stop moving! Judging from your past work, it will be a real treat to see the finished results, you never fail to produce something better each time you take on a project. Happy remodeling. Blane
  12. I have to agree with planettrout, I am just finishing a book, Tying and Fishing Soft-Hackle Nymphs by Allen McGee. In the book he says that the hackle can go from the hook point to 1 1/2 times the length of the hook shank, depending on what look you are going for. Spiders are usually longer hackle length, but in the end it is pretty much up to the tyer as to what length they want the hackle to be, and that would be best set by the aquatic life in the waters they are fishing. 13. The laws wouldn't have to be there if we all just let nature be nature, but there are those select few who violate nature at each and every turn and the laws are there for "those" individuals. I don't violate this law, but have been on the wrong side of the customs agents due to my own ignorance, and I really didn't like what could have happened to me(there is a thread about it). I have seen beautiful songbirds for sale on ebay, along with the skin of an ocelot(which I did report to law enforcement), it is those that seek the "for profit" part of possession that have and will continue to ruin such things for all. 14. Nick, this is open to as many of you as would like to donate flies to the cause, and you are in. Thanks Idaho RC, I will send you a PM. Blane
  15. If not all of you are familiar with PHW, it is a charity for veterans. They take vets on a 4 day retreat of healing, fly tying and fly fishing. It is a great charity and it has chapters nation wide. They always need help, and volunteers are welcome. We raise money for the retreats by having auctions and other fund raising events. If you have any questions about it I can try(read that correctly, I said "try") and answer them. Although some on here probably know much more about it than I do. Thanks Blane
  16. Got you Rick, thanks for taking part. Blane
  17. This is for the group locally, we have a small group of guys that tie every other week at a local fly shop. They also hold monthly outings for the vets, I haven't be able to go help on those though, because they hold them during the week. I hope to be able to help out soon though, but it all depends on the work schedule, so I am doing what I can to help in raising money for the guys/gals. Blane PS. Glad to have you on board carpflyguy.
