Fishing the Davidson River in North Carolina below the hatchery is always drama. Intense drama. Especially during warm months. Smooth water, huge fish over twenty inches and an incredible fishing pressure. Those huge floating logs slowly drifting up sipping every fly but yours. This fly gives a great profile and is sparse enough to fool the trout that have seen the entire Umpqua catalogue . This fly has always been the saver. Sometimes in fly fishing you have to save the drama for your momma and catch fish. This is the fish catcher .

Putting leader sink on a dry fly was common too or putting floatant on a wet.

Dr. Vette ... like you said in a previous post, you don't know this guy and don't remember him from previous threads. Don't bother defending him, he made his bed and then peed in it himself, none of us did it to him. Most people never gave him a hard time, he just couldn't take the criticism he asked for. He took offense quickly and then started whining about someone persecuting him on other sites and his own. I am pretty sure no one from THIS site has done that. Members from this site didn't "beat him up" ... but he took it that way. So now, any negative remark is taken as an insult or something. And of course, at this point ... it's become something of a joke. Clapping

Thanks for posting. I had the chance to fish the Blackfoot in the Missoula area, but I chose the Clarks Fork. Didn't know McLean's home was there. I like the Presby minister jokes. My friend is a Presby minister. They are often stereotypes without trying. I joke with mine by telling her to google, "How to make a good Presbyterian?" It comes up with a drink recipe. No silicone on the fly. The taper is in the positioning of the fur when tying and the trimming. A fine textured fur gives the translucence .

Thx. What's the head material you are using? Mike I am just using the craft fur and trimming it. Any fairly fine textured synthetic works. The Zap a gap or superglue that is used to attach eyes helps shape the head I guess. I press my forefinger and thumb on each eye compressing the fur.

Remove rope from Mylar tubing. Thread hook as shown. Now put one drop super glue and start thread near eye of hook. Tie long fibers top and bottom then tie shorter fibers top and bottom. Trim to shape. Fly is thin like Alewife. I haven't seen others like this. I have used it for over a decade. It is very simple.
