Jay, the work bench video from Radiant Vista on July 10th presented an IR conversion technique you may be interested in checking out. IR Conversion Technique

I like the way Mark Johnson presents his work benches. I keep thinking if I watch enough of them something may stick one of these days. I think I'm running out of memory in my nearly 70 year old brain.

Some of you may find this workbench called Hyper Realistic Portraiture interesting. Maybe it will work for fish faces as well as people. Radiant Vista Web Site

All are nice shots, but #3 really grabs me. I like the side light on the face and yet there is still a lot of detail in the shadows along the body.

Great pics. They are so sharp and clear. I really like #2 in the top row.

I got my set yesterday. Very nice stuff, poor fish aren't going stand a chance.

Stunning photo!!! I can almost hear the National Anthem playing in the background.

Looks three dimensional. . . very nice.

Yesterday (July 1) finally got some decent shots of the Bullock's Oriole, male and female. I was on the trail headed to their nest site well before sunrise. Dawn Breaking Under A Waning Gibbous Moon The Male in Early Morning Sun The Female She gets ripped off on her wardrobe. Later in the morning a hatch of flying ants got them to come right down on the trail, very close to me. The Male Gathering Ants All loaded Up With Ants These were all taken with the poor mans L glass. . . the 70-300mm IS USM and they are cropped, except for the verticle.

Tyrite, thanks for looking.

Better shots of the Eastern Kingbird and the Orchard Oriole. Found this little guy feeding in some bushes. I like its feeding style.

Thanks for commenting and the encouragement. I have enjoyed getting up and about before sunrise, driving the 12 miles to the trail entry point, putting the power chair in "NASCAR" mode and hauling about 2 miles down the trail to a nest of orioles I spotted on prior trips. I still haven't got a good shot of the male oriole in all his colorful splendor. I have spotted this Hawk on the same perch for the last 3 mornings. Yesterday a bicyclist stopped when he saw what I was taking picture of. The hawk left the perch circled an open area and came right back to the perch. Today it did the same thing and got this shot just as it was about to land. Here is another one from todays outing. I believe it is a Western Kingbird

This was my new bird on this mornings outing on the trail. Great Blue Heron

I showed this one to my wife and I new what she was going to say. "Awww that's cute"

I visited the trail again yesterday(the 22nd) and got some pictures of three more birds that I have never seen before. I think this one is an Eastern Kingbird I believe this one may be an Orchard Oriole And this one I have no idea what it might be

I spotted this little guy this morning on the trail. I had never seen such beautiful little bird before. After consulting my Field Guide to The Birds of North America I was able to identify it as a Blue Grosbeak. Hopefully on my next time out I can get a better photo.

Do you ever go up higher and wet a line? The pic in my avatar was taken on the Poudre in the quality water below the fish hatchery. . . my favorite spot to fish on the river.

For the past 3 mornings, I have been getting up at 4:00AM to visit a section of the Poudre river trail. When I was working at Kodak, every morning I would drive by the trail entry parking lot and I would wish I was one of the lucky stiffs that didn’t have to work. Well now I’m one of the lucky stiffs. The trail runs along the Cache La Poudre starting in Greeley, through Windsor and ends in Ft. Collins. The trail is a nice wide concrete pathway with old gnarly cottonwood trees forming canopies over it. See this link for more about the trail. Poudre River Web Site Some pics from the outings. Facing West toward the mountains and the river's head waters high in Rocky Mountain National Park. Makes you want to see what's around the bend Female Cowbird . . . I think.
