  1. I received a "Cabella's Kit" with a very inexpensive vise in the kit. My son bought the kit for $5.00 at a garage sale. So it was a god deal! After tying a few flies, I decided to upgrade, after much research, I decided to purchase the "PEAK" Rotary vise. Price was the biggest reason, and looks, it appears to be made quite well. I tie mostly saltwater fly's a #1 and the Peak does a good job! I still make rookie mistakes but have improved quite a lot, since I got the Peak
  2. I fish redfish and speckled trout (spotted weakfish) and just wondering if anyone put together a materials list for tying flies for those species? Things like hook sizes, synthetic materials, natural materials, and atype of vise for these flies. I am sure this is like starting an "oil post" on a motorcycle forum. I am begining to tye and on the lookout for stuff to use for tying.
  3. Thanks, A couple I like, and some good ideas, also.
  4. I am interested in building in building a fly tying bench. I have not seen any plans or suggestions for any. Am I missing something, or are there plans outhere
  5. Should have a novice catagory! I am learning how to tie, always trying to learn and try different things, I just tied a "NailBiter" Spoon fly and am happy with the results, but could pick it apart for mistakes. Also learning dubbing, wow! I have a number of flies, that are obvious a newbie tied them! Not to mention the quizical looks checking out fingernail polish and fake nails at the store!
  6. I think I am going to try this in brown feathers, with some tan hair. I have been looking for a crab fly and I love the look of this one! Thanks!
  7. I fish and tie saltwater flies and have not found a good book for it, YET. I have attended a few classes, joined a local flyfishing club and watched hours of youtube videos. I am not really interested in tying trout flies, mostly because the opportunity is not there for me to fish trout. In a few minutes I can be in the marsh hunting tailing redfish.
  8. Hello All, I found you today, while perusing for fly patterns and recipies. I am really a newbie at flyfishing & flytying. I have been fishing for a majority of my life. I have had my Captain's license since 1978, and now teach others to get theirs.
