  1. My smallie paradise is closed for the winter Waiting for the last week in April........................
  2. HOLY $^#&@^%$*@%*&^#$!!! Talk about sweet! Thanks Feathers!
  3. Merry Christmas AlexTM!!! I bet you don't know whether to whup his butt or buy him something cool! Welcome to the site!
  4. http://www.flyanglersonline.com/ FAOL's beginning section has a SHWAPF pattern that can be tied to mimic a boatman. Scroll down to Lesson 6 and it is at the bottom of the page.
  5. Last night, while tying a madam-x, I used the half hitch for the first time. I found it easier to control the thread along the rubber legs and orange indicator yarn, without messing up the angle of the deer hair and legs. Most of the time, I'm a whip finisher.
  6. I like "contact" if I know of them from a board. If we have exchanged PMs or emails, then I go with "online buddy." When the heck is Riversmallies' message board gonna be up. I miss that gang of "online buddies."
  7. Possums...nature's little speedbumps.
  8. Geez guys thanks! There sure are a lot of different hopper patterns out there! I like that Fishy's Hopper, Pujic, I may have to invest in some more foam...and green fingernail polish. My girlfriend is more of a pink-purple polish girl...so I can't steal any from her! Used red to highlight my shotgun bead tho!
  9. Now, I'm not looking for the super-realistic hopper patterns I sometimes see on this site, but what are some good basic hopper patterns to tie this winter? I'm starting off with the Madam-X pattern, and plan to do some LeTorts as well. Are there any other, somewhat basic hopper patterns to recommend to a newbie? Post links to the patterns, if you have them! Thanks, tight threads.
  10. Beginner - but I have fun doing it, and that is all that matters! That and the occasional bluegill that takes a chance on my offerings!
  11. Hey gang! I was just wondering if there are any folks on this board from the upper midwest? It would be cool to get together and do some fly fishing around here (I'm from eastern ND) sometime. Thanks, tight threads.
  12. Great contest! Great pics to boot! I loved the one of the trout in the water! Excellent shot!
  13. Probably more for the mods than anyone, but who are the winners of the photo contest? (Please say me, please say me)
  14. Yeah, about 10 minutes after I posted, I found the original thread. Sounds like good prizes to me!
  15. Was there prizes for this or just bragging rights?
  16. LOL - Maybe you should rub the floatant in longer?
  17. Man, I hope our boys and girls get out of that sand box and back into their tackle boxes soon!!! And of course, being a newbie, you can count me IN! PTN or something like that for a rook like me shouldn't be too hard! Great Idea Guys! God's Speed
  18. An olive wooly bugger. I caught a few bluegills on it this summer and promptly retired it! It sure was a fun experience to tie something and catch fish on it! Tight threads!
  19. Here here! Thanks for your help!
  20. I'm a rookie at this, but from what I have been reading in Field and Stream and in some other books is that bigger streamers are great in the fall for bigger trout. Things like wooly buggers and clousers, and probably a million other streamers I've never heard of or seen before would be the ticket. Good luck!
  21. The stuff you guys tie is so darn realistic, makes me wonder if the balls of dubbing, pheasant tail feathers, string and a bead head are even sufficient! In any event, those are some impressive lineups! Gives a guy something to shoot for!
