  1. Black Magnus (Danish seatrout fly) Hook:TMC 777sp str.8 Medium bead chain eyes Tail: black marabou/Chicabou Body:STF dubbing black Body hackle and colar:Whiting Pro grade Black
  2. Does superglue dissolve in water/saltwater when dry?
  3. I was wondering why some of my whiting capes looks so dirty. Looks like they have been in a room with alot of dust before packaging.
  4. mikechell: I'm referring to the type of guy that think he knows everything there is to know about anything fish related. The dude that has all the answers and he couldn't be prouder of himself. I'm trying to make this sound understandable, but unless you understand Danish, I can't make it more clear. :-)
  5. Thank you for the help. An other time I will do what you suggested mvendon, thanks alot for the explanation. It's too late to save the cape now, but fortunately it's not too expensive. mikechell: :-) Henrik: i had hoped that whiting was clever enough to do that job properly since they say it's not necessary to wash their materials.
  6. Just to be safe, I threw it away. I'm not sure if it really was a mold, but better safe than sorry. I plucked out some feathers from ereas were it looked like dark spots and it seems that it was the stems that had a different color were they were plucked out. From having looked at a few of my capes it's seems that whiting does a pretty lousy job of getting the color out of their capes when done coloring them. Big lumps are sometimes present and feathers fused together by it. Edit: The capes are from 1-3 years old.
  7. I think it's mold. Looks a bit white and green in some locations. Small green dots. Not many, but spread out. I think fat might be the reason. It's a whiting American rooster cape. I store them in original zip-lock bag.
  8. Hi. Can I save a cape that seems to have some rot on the flesh side?
  9. Thanks again for the help. I think I'll get one of those ceramic hook sharpeners to have with me on the water.
  10. I think Davie Macphail has a video on how he dye feathers.
  11. I'm kind of tired listening to people who think they have it all figured out. :-) Experiment and find out what works for you. Count the flash if you like :-)
  12. Thanks for the help. I think I'll just start to throw out the hooks when they get dull.
  13. Hi. I don't know if my hook (Partridge CS54) is chemicaly sharpened, but if it is, can I re-sharpen it? I don't even know if it matters, but that's why I ask :-)
  14. I have had a very very bad spey half neck from whiting. It was so bad you wouldn't pay money for it if you knew how bad the fibers were. You have to open the bag and look careful at the feathers. I got help with the next spey neck I bought and it's really nice. Price has actually gone down here in Denmark and I think I'm not the only one who is glad about it.
  15. Thank you agn54 and Betty. You start by tying a grizzly hackle at the hook bend, not by the tip buy the bottom of the feather were it's soft and webby. You take as many turns as you like. (I forgot to add bead chain eyes) then you tie in the bead chain eyes on top with two turns and twist them to the underside. The bead chain eyes should be more towards the back of the fly if you split the fly at the middle. Then you add the hotspot (in my case Ice dub fluo. Hot pink) going from the eyes toward the back of the fly. Then you use the same feather and tie it in by the but and do 3 turns in front of the bead chain eyes. I don't remember the name of the dubbing color, but it was STF dubbing. You add more dubbing and at the eye of the hook you tie in the same hackle again by the butt, 1 maby 2 turns and you are done.
  16. My zap a gap is as good as new and it's months old. The top lid can get stuck, but that's all.
  17. Zap goo seems to be the only thing coming close. But Enrico Puglisi use it, so it must be good enough.
  18. Just got a subsciption for EP flies and i see Enrico is not covering his heads with UV resin, but just attach the eyes with Goop. Unfortunately i don't think Goop is available here in Denmark. I have Loctite superglue gel, will that work as good?
  19. I hardly ever use it, but when I do, I have serious trouble getting it opened. Bottle is too small to get a proper hold on and the brush lid too.
