  1. That is one FANTASTIC fly Andy!!! :yahoo: :yahoo: Me love it!
  2. Me like it a lot! Great work Dave!!! I like the wing mixing and the amount of realy good Kori in it!
  3. Yes, I used the method Anton describes on the head of the Butcher in the pic below. It is easy to make nice swept back butts and heads with this technique.
  4. In my top1: The Butcher Not my cup of tea: The Sherbrook (Sorry Arska !) or Helmsdale Doctor (Should not be called a doctor!)
  5. Great Dave! Nice to see a McIntyre with the underwing tyed the way the pattern says! Do you mount the gut to the sides of the hook when there is full feather underwung and under in other cases? I find this a good way to go...
  6. Many thanks everyone for you very nice comments! :drunk:
  7. Very nice and original fly Dean! For some reason it brings a wing flapping fairy to my mind...
  8. Very neat very neat - SUPER JOB Mike! Especially the guineafowl sides are really good! :headbang: Is that wing feather or tail?
  9. Many thanks everyone for your encouraging comments! What I meen by the trick in the wing is really about tying the strips this way up. Here is a bit better pic of the fly. It is amazing how much better my old camera is...
  10. Ok guys - I managed to finnish the Doc! The shape is a bit different than how I normally tye - I think. The longer hook tends to cause this I guess. Hope you like it! All comments are very welcome!
  11. Put the sides and roof on - yes I am very slow... Now it's just the topping and the woolhead since Pryce-Tannatt did not like his doctors havin cheeks nore horns... It is obvious that the head is not going to be super small but lets see how it turns out.
  12. Thanks for the coment Dave! Yes we do - it comes from the British isles and the package says Veniard or something... Heheh!
  13. Hi again, Here is a Red King I tyed after the Black one. Tyed it into a HE2 #2/0 hook which I am beginning to like now. Hope you guys like it!
  14. Thanks everyone for your encouragement and effort! You were very close Kjell-Ove but I am sorry that your answer was not axactly right. I assume that you ment the Azure Rumped Tanager Tangara cabanisi (or atleast that is the closes species to your answer - sorry!). The right species is the Blue Necked Tanager Tangara cyanicollis that Mr Kontio suggested - very good job Timppa!!! :clapping: With some trumpeteers and cheerleader girls we celebrated Timo's right answer at the store when he popped by yesterday. :ban: The trumpet players and girlies were kindly asked to step aside when we took the pic - it is just the dork on the left that we can't seem to get rid of... Timo is on the right happily smiling his victory!
  15. Ok guys. Made some progress here. The main wing is just about on and I think I'll leave it like that. Had to leave the Peacock wing out due to obvious reasons. The main wing is a regular 30 fibers for a #5/0 hook. And now onto mounting the rest...
  16. How about for fishing Dee flies? Would these do?
  17. LOL! Luckily Philip is in the pic or otherwise one could seen this terrifying event of pike fly tying actually happen... Hehe!
  18. Thanks guys! Dave, I try to follow the pattern on this one. The fly will be framed and put onto a wall of one gallery - that is if it turns out ok... I like how you went with the flow with your fly mate!
  19. Hi guys, Inspired by DG's great WIP posts here is a pic of a Blue Doctor that I am tying at the moment. So far ok I guess. The hook is a #5/0 Harrison Bartleet Limerick XL modified my Miqu. I cut the hook slightly cause I think the proportions will turn out better that way. Lets see how I manage to pull the rest together...
  20. That's one cracking bunch of fly tyers you got there Ted! I am very happy to have met you all!
  21. Thats too bad Dave! Hope things go well with you mate! Just keep your flies shagged - we know that you can deliver!
  22. Here is one of the Spey flies that I tyed a few months ago. It is the Black King on Partridge HE2 #2/0 hook. Comments and suggestions are welcome! Thanks to Phil Glendinning for showing the style to put on the wings! I like them this way better. Hope you like it!
  23. OK! If I ever was a sheepfarmer and there would come a need for a S**g, this sheep might just be the one to do it with!!! Super work Edwin!!! :headbang: Is the tail of Golden Bird of Paradise? I think you have really bad quality red and orange goose feathers in the background with terrible black marking - since you are already here on this side of the pond you could send them to me and I'll take care of them.? :hypocrite: :jumpy:
