  1. Just a quick update to let you know where we stand. I've received flies from: atroutbum2 troutgeek paymaster shenandoahangler Many others have requested the address so think we're in good shape. If you don't think you'll be able to get your flies in on time, please let me know. Thanks Bamboo
  2. Never heard of it. What is Temple dog?:dunno: Bamboo
  3. I've seen people use a bobbin efficiently but I just never developed a knack for it. :dunno: Like OLB said, the wire will loosen up on the bobbin and make a mess. I found this happened even when I was religious about folding over the loose end and trying to maintain tension. I may wast a bit of wire by cutting off what I need but it works much better for me. -Bamboo
  4. Got my flies last night. Great ties everybody and thanks OLB for pulling it all together. :yahoo: -Bamboo
  5. Just wanted to give everyone a quick update. To date, I've received flies from: atroutbum2 and have provided my address to everyone that's asked (let me know if that's wrong). Deadline is the end of the month so still plenty time. -Bamboo

  9. Originally I suggested Thanksgiving Day (U.S.) to have all flies in. To make things easy, let's just call it the end of November, 11/30. -Bamboo
  10. So that everyone can get on with their tying, we'll just cut this swap off with the 10 tyers listed and myself. Just tie up 10 attractors of your choosing and when you're ready to send them along, PM me and I'll get you my address. 1. CapeBSalar 2. atroutbum2 3. Paymaster 4. KRC 5. Sharpster68 6. 14. Happy Thanksgiving to those of you up north. You're making me look forward to our own next month. -Bamboo
  15. I use #1 in flytire's photo array with a clinch knot both to attach the dropper and at the bend of the forward fly. It's the only way I've ever used a dropper and it's been successful. Is there some condition that makes one better over the other? -Bamboo
  16. I'll bet you hunt road kill too! Damn that's nasty - like to think I wouldn't have touched it. -Bamboo
  17. The best material I've used is Turkey T-flats. -Bamboo
  18. There's one advertised here... Fly Tying Symposium It's the only specific fly tying show I know of. -Bamboo

  24. Hadn't seen any new swaps for a while and we're getting close enough to the slow season to start thinking about fly swaps more seriously. How about an attractor swap to kick off the off-season? A Thanksgiving Day due date of 11/24 should be plenty time. Any attractor fly will do. I'll take the first 12 with "I'm in". -Bamboo

    Thread

Probably start with some black, brown and gray, 6/0. That gives you a few colors to to use and enough thread strength so you're not constantly breaking off. Don't worry, if you get hooked that assortment will grow rapidly. -Bamboo
