  1. Another vote for the Peak. :headbang: I like to spin deer hair bass bugs and it has never moved. That base is stable and heavy. tight lines and heavy creels -Tom
  2. For Nick I get my porcupine guard hairs from eflytyer.com. It is a little hard to navigate. Scroll down to the order info button click it and then look on the body materials page. When I have used him I have found his quality and service to be good. tight lines and heavy creels -Tom
  3. I hope this helps some one. Firefox is the browser I use 98% of the time. The search function in the fly pattern data base always worked for any thing except searching by tyers name. So I thought that function was broken for some unknown reason. On a lark I decided to try using Internet Explorer today to see what happened and it works just fine that way. So while I still prefer Firefox it is nice to know that I can search by tyers name if I want to just by switching browsers. Tight lines and heavy creels -Tom
  4. As a cancer survivor this subject is very close to me. You bet I'm in. I will start tying right now. tight lines and heavy creels -Tom
  5. I'm in with a yellow foam spider. I know it's a simple tie but it really catches the gills. tight lines and heavy creels -Tom
  6. I got mine today. Great ties everyone. If every one had flies like these the bluegill could become an endangered species. tight lines and heavy creels -Tom
  7. Good work Joe. Thanks Al I was just typing in the same question as djmyers when your answer came up. tight lines and heavy creels -Tom
  8. My favorites are humbugs, pus bugs, and cajun ticklers. All great fish catchers. tight lines and heavy creels -Tom
  9. They are done and ready to mail, need addy. But if RDL wants to do humbugs too, just give me the word and I will be glad to fish these myself and tye something else. :dunno: It isn't a problem. Tom
  10. I'm in with a black and yellow hum bug. Its a real fish catcher for me. -Tom
  11. I'm still eagerly awaiting mine too. tight lines and heavy creels Impatient in Iowa
  12. Got mine yesterday. Thanks for hosting Paul and thanks for the great flies. :yahoo: :yahoo: I can hardly wait to tie them on. tight lines and heavy creels -Tom
  13. Mike There is one guy here in Iowa who will order the 100 packs but there is no price advantage over four 25 packs. However madriveroutfitters.com has them for $5.45/25pack and gives an automatic discount of 25% on a purchase of 4 packs. They offer this same discount on all brands of hooks. If you order 2 fifty packs you will get the 25% off. Also they offer free shipping on orders of $25 or more. Any order of 100 of the same size hook gets the discount. If you also like the TMC 200r it is on the dry fly hook page. (I had trouble finding that one). The service is great if I order on Mon morning I usually receive my order in Wed mail. They are not my favorite source for supplies due to their limited selection. They are worth a look, especially if you are looking to save money on hooks. tight lines and heavy creels -Tom The 25% does not show on the invoice when you order on line but is automaticaly applied by MRO
  14. I sent mine in a couple of days ago. They aren't pretty or fancy but they are some of my best fish catchers. tight lines and heavy creels -Tom
  15. The flys just arrived. They look like real fish catchers. Thanks everyone. :headbang: tight lines and heavy creels -Tom
  16. keep the extras and catch a fish with them.
  17. Double edge blades can be very hard to find. I get mine at Walgreens. I have herd that Wal Mart also carries them but I can't confirm that first hand. Tom
  18. IMHO a packing tool is essential you will get a much tighter body. I use one of the brass ones you just pinch the hook with and push. You can also use the barrel from a ballpoint pen. Just slip the small end over the hook and push the deer hair back. As far as the razor blade again you do need it to get a really smooth body. Get a double edged one the single edged are NOT sharp enough. Cut it in half this gives you two blades with just a single cutting edge each. It is very flexible which helps a lot with curved shapes especially. Just hold the ends between your thumb and fore finger and squeeze it will bend into an arc that is very easy to work with. This should make spinning deer hair easier and a lot more fun. tight lines and heavy creels -Tom
  19. I'm with oldfart on this one. Wiss clips are razor sharp and are the only scissors I can comfortably keep in my hand while I am tying. -Tom
