  1. Now that's how you do the string thing. Love the bolt cutters...but my tackle box ain't big enough for those. One question...did that guy pee his pants during this? Really glad it missed his eye ball. One reason why I try not to fly fish with an on shoulder breeze.
  2. There is another way to remove a hook not mentioned. One of the ways the ER would do it. If you have a very sharp xacto knife or razor knife you can carefully cut along the shank to the barb ( after sterilizing it of course ) then remove it easily. Little hooks can be yanked out backwards, and the string method will work but the angle you yank the string has to be low or you will get S&M's results. Lastly popping it through ( and that hurts ) and cutting it off. The one in the photo went it totally painless. Pushing through wasn't and you do need good cutters for the hook ( like in the photo not pliers ) and I always carry a pair with me for just that purpose. I've done all the above. Number one more than once.
  3. I agree with bimini15 that emails are a written record for a business. I depend on them in mine. I send people price quotes for jobs etc. and can always pull them back up if needed. Had a dispute with a rod company last year and most of it with emails and had a record of it and saved it all. So yes if you are a business and have an email address you should answer legit mail. These days I think I get just as much spam mail as spam phone calls. Just have to weed em out.
  4. Yeah, April 18 is better than the 15th. I'm sure the already slow mail will be clogged with the real IRS stuff in two weeks. But had to make a joke about the date. So sorry to hear about Woodenlegs.
  5. Pretty cool looking fly and the name fits it well.
  6. Now THAT'S a fish story not soon to be forgotten...by you anyway. Three years old and already so excited about fishing and a fish he going in after it. Love it! Thanks for sharing.
  7. Alright two weeks left. April 15 deadline or the I.R.S. will be after you! I.R.S. ( Impatient Ruffled Swappers )
  8. Same thing goes for a "Merkin" search.
  9. I'll agree with Mike that if I can't see it here I'm not chasing a bunch of other sites for a photo. If you are too lazy to make it fit here then I guess it's not really worth my hassell either.
  10. Do show us them smallies FRN, that is if one actually eats that thang.
  11. You my kind of funny guy Flat Rock.
  12. You weren't supposed to show nobody that blue bug eyed thang. It's beyond bugugly.
  13. Well there you have it. As flytire said it don't stink. If my man cave doesn't smell like a bunch of dead birds and mammals then the wife wants to nose around too much wanting to know what I'm doing. Her nose usually makes her leave.
  14. Early or was it late? Either way, nice! From your wife, girl friend or significant self?
  15. Are all the colors doing the same thing? I've found that sometimes the problems are unique to individual packages.
  16. I like the way you wrapped the hook. Very nice and light. Bet it'll cast a whole lot easier than that orange thing I just tested. Needs a 9wt cuz my 8 was struggling. Didn't think it that heavy and bulky but it is.
  17. One like the top one caught my biggest yet. They suspend and move nicely on the surface in 18" of water. Haven't had any fish to throw the red & white at since our algae bloom last year killed everything. That orange and yaller one is for the surf or deeper channels.
  18. As JSz said I like the way I can make bucktail flair or lay flatter. And while I do tie a lot of baitfish with synthetics it's still hard to beat the action of real animal fur. And if I need a more durable material I go for the P Bear.
  19. Recently seen a couple different black and orange baitfish things so tried my own with what little bit of orange buck tail I had. Should ride hook up.
  20. That's why I built that 3wt a couple weeks back. It's my new ditch tarpon rod.
  21. Catch and release is playing with your food.
  22. If you already have a 5wt rig just wash it very good afterward and clean the line and treat it. What I do with my 5wt tarpon and gator trout rig.
  23. Show us you catch Adam. Maybe time to start a saltwater fish photos thread, eh?
  24. My biggest issue with deer hair is not length but brittleness from being over baked or whatever you call it. The hide itself if very hard and crusty and not supple is a good indicator the hair will be similar in feel.
