  6. Nice job on those flies. :headbang:
  7. I use mine quite frequently. As you probably know there are several versions. I use the DynaKing, Its short/stout and is very easy to use. Some are quite long and can be problematic if using a pedestal(clearance from vise to table top)
  8. Nice area, how long have you been tying?
  9. Mine came today Should have ordered Large :nopity:
  10. Tim was definately one of the best deer hair guys around. I have that edition of flyfisherman mag. and he definately got me going in the spinning direction. Shortly there after I met up with Chris Helm and the rest is history. Thanks for sharing that fly with us Heres a Tim England pattern I tried to tie up, known as Lizzy's Frog, hope you like it
  11. I'm not sure, ellet would be the one to ask. He does most of the class recordings. If I have a chance I'll post a video on Hatches TV, working on a SPECIAL project right now
  12. I think its a great job :headbang: The single most important thing about this fly is the positioning of the Flank feather(as you must know). The thing will fish great. I taught this pattern in the virtual classroom several months ago. I've tied 100's for some of the Mich. guides in the past and continue to do so, Very nice fly you tied I have tied them in every imaginable color and I don't think it matters really. Its the action that entices the monster trout into pounding them!
  13. The Rattle Snake Muddler was developed by Ray Schmidt Materials list as follows Stinger Hook: Tiemco 2457 size 10 Body Hook: Tiemco 105 size 6 Connector: 20 lb. Maxima snelled on the 2457' and lashed thru the eye of the 105 Body: 1/8 Dia. Brass/Nickel beads Wing: Rabbit Zonker Strip (color to match) 3 pieces of flash Head: Deer body hair(muddler spun) Thread: 3/0 monocord I taught this fly in the virtual classroom several months ago and is a favorite of mine
  14. Great job :headbang: As rockworm says proportions are excellant. Also agree with his method of tying in the deer hair. Always keep constant pressure on the deer hair(with left hand) while wrapping additional wraps , each one tighter than the previous one. Before you let go of the deer hair(with your left hand) you can grab the front of it (right hand)and upright any hairs that may have slipped to the far side, then make a couple of tight turns and finish off the fly
  15. Yeah, your right. the deer hair is tied sparsly then butts are hidden by tight thread wraps, side by side. Then thread is brought back to front of wing and hackle is tied in , the wrapped forward over the butts.
  16. OH YEAH! What Day 5 said great hook
  17. Letumgo is right on, If you leave the width of an eyelet bare this should help. Commit yourself to not advancing anything past that point and your eyelet will never get crowded!(head wraps only) Also, Danceswithheadcement has some great advice :headbang: Proportions can be tough to stay true to, but especiallywith Dry flys, they are critical. Look here http://www.derekspace.net/prop.htm Bruce
  18. One of my first tote boxes was a plastic sewing box (from craft store) where the top section has spot for your threads and bottom has plenty of room for vice and materials
  19. Really like the color combo, should be a great fly
  20. Heres a quick video on tying with ice dub and rabbit http://www.hatchesmagazine.com/tv//play.php?vid=169 This is a random streamer simply to show how to form dubbing loop for a body (ice dubbing)and a collar(rabbit) Please remember, this isn't any particular pattern, so take the technique and incorporate it into your tying to achieve similar results, try it then post one using this tech. :dunno:
  21. How about John McLain :headbang:
  22. Very nice job. Heres an example of the all around great fly. It looks good to a fisherman and when it gets wet it really looks fantastic :headbang:
  23. I really like the colors and might I suggest, when tying the wings in, use 4 to 6 feathers. Once you have lined up the tips then slightly wet the feathers, it makes it easier to handle them while palmering the ribbing forward. Nice job :headbang:
