  1. Have known this young man since he was born. I’ve watched him grow into an amazing man. Last month alone he graduated high school in the top 15 of his class. Got his Maine whitewater guides license and was pinned with his Eagle award BSA. Not only that he had an additional 20 merit badges over and above his requirements. Oh yes he is 1 week away from completing his EMT course. I figured this net would make a fitting gift for all that he has done. Congratulations Tom Sylvester.
  2. That time of year. Trout should be moving any day
  3. Was a mild snow fall this year. Wasn’t very cold either (easy on the fuel bill). We didn’t have hard water ‘till well into Jan in mid Maine. Only concern I can see with this is the water levels as we go through the year. Good and bad at the same time.
  4. Coming out of the shop the other night.
  5. 😮 zip, That looks….. WOW! I’ve always been curious, what it’s like to tie with water buffalo hair? Figuring you went to Australia and hunted the buffalo. Michael
  6. I really should learn to read. Ok, different question. What are you using as a finish and how far down in grit do you sand? Michael
  7. These are amazing!!!! It appears the bottom two are made of Beech? That was the perfect trade. Michael
  8. Good evening all. Including you Mikechell. cencalfly, I have not used “Cactus Juice”. I’ve been told it works great. The way I made these is to in case the inside with epoxy then I burned them. Then I encase the outside with epoxy and epoxy the cup in place. This is the same process I use to make my travel mugs. Thanks for all the interest. Michael ”Esse Quam Videri”
  9. niveker, Sides are a strong 16th and the base is 1/4. I was really surprised that the fractal burning didn’t go through. Michael
  10. I’ve had these in my head for a few years now. Finally took the time to make them reality. 2 1/2oz shot glasses with a stainless steel liner. Cheers, Michael ”Esse Quam Videri”
  11. Molly at 6 weeks with my oldest. Molly at 10 years with my wife and my oldest. Molly at 12 years as the ring bearer at my oldest wedding. Michael
  12. Thank you very much MuskyFlyGuy. I do appreciate your kind words. My Daughter and I have a small woodworking business as a side gig. I never imagined I would have this much fun or pride being able to work through creative ideas and figuring out the building process with her. Truly enjoying watching her stretching and her pushing me. Cheers, Michael
  13. By far my more popular gift this year. Michael
  14. Was asked to duplicate an antique ravioli rolling pin from Italy. As near as we could figure, using family history, it must be better than 100yrs. I was invited to their family “Ravioli Day”. We made more than 2000 ravioli that day. Epic day meeting new people. The family recipe they used was dated 1948. It tastes awesome. The finished Ravpin I made is 23” wide. There are 15 divisions wide and 6 per revolution. It has the potential of making 90 per revolution. Michael
  15. This was the last Christmas gift I completed. A young man, dating my daughter, is into bartending. This is a single Steward with different scales. Michael
  16. I’m a bit late to this thread. I learned to drive on one of these. It was a 69. My parents fit in the back, 3 kids and a dog and a 10 man canvas tent with bedding. On top were 2 canoes with all the supplies for 10 days of dry camping. This brings back memories, great memories. Michael R. Earle ”Esse Quam Videri”
  17. Only one complaint I have with what we purchased. Wife wanted a larger fridge with French doors and an ice maker. I love the French doors and the ice maker, BUT the larger capacity is and enormous waste of food and money. Some food goes to waste before we can get to it. That really doesn't settle well with me. Next one will be much smaller!!! Michael
  18. Had my daughter our duck hunting on the river. Across from our blind was a boat sitting in a small eddy. I kept a binocular eye on it while we were there. I figured it may have been a warden watching us. On the way out we took a detour and found it partially submerged, just enough to keep it in that eddy. We emptied it, tied it to a tree, took the registration number and called the wardens when we got home. The owner lived some miles up river from where we were. He wrote us a wonderful note how he owned the boat for many years and thought it had been stolen He had been combing the river for three weeks trying to find it. He enclosed a $50 bill to say thank you. I took the opportunity to show my daughter how important it is to help others. We took half the money and helped the local homeless shelter and the other half we spent on Christmas gifts. To me the really cool part of how that unfolded is that she still gives back to those who may have a bigger need than her. Michael
  19. Our prayers are with you. May your recovery be fast and unremarkable. Michael
  20. Adam Ant in Portland Me 1982 I think. Drove in a raging blizzard for 2 hours to see them. They played for maybe 150 people and they played like it was Wembley Stadium. Epic! Second was taking my Daughters to their first concert, Zac Brown on the waterfront. Michael
  21. Thanks for the input. The more I ask the more I realize there’s a lot I hadn’t thought about. Michell, Had you considered putting a insulated box around the compressor? Along the idea of how an I/O motor is insulated on a boat. Just an idea. I appreciate it. Michael
  22. Question for your Mikechell, Now that you have had a chance to be in the shop, what would you have changed about the building? i.e. Bigger, smaller, taller, more windows, more insulation, more outlets or perhaps 220v? I'm in the planning stage of building a shop and looking for some input. Thanks Michael R. Earle "Esse Quam Videri"
  23. Saw them in concert in Bangor Me a couple... a few years ago. EPIC!!! Michael
