Saltwater fly reel recommendation

Kind of like a regular sink tip line?
-
Thanks. I ordered the rio 10ft 5.2 ips. Will a 5 or 6 wt turn them over?
-
Sorry. Meant to post in fly fishing. Mods please move. Thanks.

Just curious on how they work? Looking to get a little deeper fishing dock lights for crappie and bass.
-
No. It came with the dogwood canyon reel. It's an anchor.

I got them today. I got a 4wt 7 footer and a 5wt 8'6". I bought them as beater rods for the kids. The reel seats are metal. The reels are terrible due to the weight. They are super heavy and throw off the balance on the rod. The line isn't much to write home about either. I put my 4wt Redington zero reel on it with a decent line and it was ok. I'll throw the 5 tomorrow. All in all it was worth $13 bucks. I wouldn't pay retail. Just my.02 cents.

I got shipping notification for 2 combos this morning.

Where do y'all live? I'm in Georgia and have never found a big in any natural materials. Are you taking about store bought stuff or mainly harvested materials? Just wondering if I need to store differently?

I bought a couple for my kids and as a beater for my truck. Hardly, a gamble for 13.

Great info. Thanks guys. I bought a bunch of small jigs. 1/64 and 1/32. Bought them a little smaller then the store bought jigs to make them easier to cast on a fly rod. I'll tie them up with a marabou tail and chenille body. May even try the bugger style.

Thanks Rocco. Yep that's what I was doing. No bobbers just slow retrieve. They didn't seem to like any of the traditional flies you mentioned. I did try them.

Recently went crappie fishing with a buddy of mine. He was fishing with a spinning reel while I was throwing a 5wt. Long story short I wasn't getting anything and he was tearing it up with 1/24oz marabou jig. After getting frustrated I grabbed one of his jigs and tied it on. Caught a bunch of crappie, bass and a few strippers. Has anyone else fished these type of jigs before? It was a bit of a chore to cast but doable. Any recommendations for tying some of these up? I bought some 1/24 oz jigs to tie but am maybe thinking I should go lighter? Maybe 1/32? Any advice would be appreciated.Thanks.

Great thanks. I'll look up the pattern.
-
The rod is fast action. It's a tfo clouser rod.
-
You are right. Just looking for something unique. I just read that the stealth bomber pattern was designed for them.
-
I'll throw some poppers and clousers up to size 4.

I considered it. I have a sink tip on my 8wt as well. The flint river that I will be fishing is really Shallow. Nothing I can't use a little weight to get down if needed. Really just looking for feedback on the mainstream line. I'm really partial to wulff as I fish mostly saltwater. Just want to save some money this time around.
-
It will be for river bass fishing so flies won't be huge and no long casts. I have an 8wt for big flies for LMB.
-
Never thought of that. Either way I still have to buy a line.
-
Anybody fish for shoal bass in GA? Looking for some good patterns.
-
Thanks for the replies. I think I'm looking for something in betweenew 10 and 90. I've got wulff TT on all my saltwater rigs but don't want to spend that much on a bass rig. Eying the Rio mainstream bass line. Only 40. Anybody have any opinions on it?
