  1. Sounds like a great river Steve, looking forward to many pictures of trips
  2. That's great Steve, you are very fortunate to have a fishery like that, sounds like that river is like a box of chocolates lol. How do you choose which WT of rod to use, could make for some very interesting fights if you have a lightweight rod
  3. Having trout, pike and smallmouth bass in the same river, that's fantastic. Do the trout live in just a certain part of the river or are they scattered throughout
  4. I asked my cable provider to get a free trial of some of the channels that you have to pay for and they did it without a problem for a month. Might be a great time to give it a try
  5. Thanks for posting that! I'm even more excited to see it now
  6. I use the compartment box as we'll for my dries, another box I use is the orvis dropper rig box, I like to have my dry dropper and nymph rigs ready to go while out on the stream if possible. Here's a link http://www.orvis.com/store/product.aspx?pf_id=76kh
  7. Wanted to let everyone know there is a fly fishing special on WFN channel called "Fly Films" Tuesday May 27 @ 5:00pm (mountain time) . 3.5 hours of fly fishing documentaries from around the world.
  8. That's a beautiful rod, I love the blank color. I think the inscription is pretty funny actually
  9. I should have rephrased that, I was ALLOWED to go fishing because I whine to much when we go shopping. They stock a couple ponds in the mountains here in alberta , they are catch and release only which makes it even more difficult because they are pretty wise, 7x Tippett and lots of luck. They are beautiful fish in their spawning colors that's for sure
  10. This was my first Grayling Steve , they are stunning fish, I tried last summer for some while fishing in northern Canada but they eluded me, was nice to finally hook up.
  11. On my honeymoon this weekend I was able to sneak away and go to a stocked grayling pond for a bit while up in the mountains, managed to get one nice sized fish on a mosquito fly size 14. They are spawning right now and are more interested in "doing it" than eating but I managed to trick one of them into taking a dry today.
  12. Beautiful pictures and some really nice fish and flies
  13. I'm so sorry to hear about your friends daughter, what a terrible thing for a parent to go through. Julie will be in my prayers
  14. Your yard looks fantastic Steve, you have been very busy by the looks of things
  15. Reminds me of one of those mini donut machines at the fair, all floating town the chute
  16. I have a hydros reel on one of my rods, very nice reel. I'm stuck at work while my new rod from Steve is sitting 500 miles away, haven't even seen it yet. I would like to hear how you make out with it. Good luck!
  17. I decided to go with the head mount, thanks everyone for your input, I appreciate it. I watched some videos on YouTube and saw the difference in each and I agree the head mount seems to get much better footage than the chest mount.
  18. I'm thinking there will be some fish eating those for sure! Hope your bringing your camera!!
  19. Sounds like a great trip, good luck to you and I hope to see some pictures when it over
  20. Are you heading up for golden trout at Michelle lake or Coral lake? If so take lots of pictures!!!
  21. I fish the same rivers , elk hair caddis is a must in different sizes, hoppers in the fall, stimulators in different colors, those are good for everywhere around that area really. Golden stone dries and nymphs, copper johns, yellow sally, bitch creek nymphs. Foam salmon fly are always good to have in case your lucky enough to be there during a salmon fly hatch. I'll post a link for a hatch chart for some of the areas you will be fishing. The flies I posted are the ones that I've had most of my personal success on. For the alpine lakes I suggest chirominids for sure in different colors and sizes. http://www.armanglers.com/charts.php
  22. You sir, are a very talented tyer, beautiful flies hope to see more soon. Thank for sharing
  23. This is the one I've been waiting for, that is a fantastic looking rod, very unique. You did a great job , I'm sure the new owner will be thrilled
