  1. Yes I caught quite a few bass on it. Fishing has been slow because of the icy waters right now
  2. It actually wobbles in a shaking motion almost like a lip less crankbait
  3. Haven't posted on here for awhile, but I saw this fly on YouTube (Don't remember the name) and decided to give it a go. Instead of using lazer dub for the head I used glow yarn. Your thoughts are appreciated!
  4. My tip would be don't be afraid to chase smaller bass. They are easier to catch, and will boost your confidence! This is SUPER important when fly fishing for bass. Scale down your flies that you are using as well! Once you feel confident in catching bass, upsize your flies. The key is confidence with bass. Good luck!!!!!!
  5. My top 5: 1. Clouser Minnows in Chartreuse/White 2. Woolly Bugger in Olive, Black, or Rust 3. Seaducers in White/Red or Olive/Black 4. Foam/Deerhair Poppers (be creative on colors) 5. E.P Fibre Sunfish Bass aren't picky so don't be afraid to throw something ridiculous looking causes chances are they will eat it! Just my $0.02
  6. So I just recently acquired quality hair for spinning bass bugs. This is my first attempt of a Dahlberg Diver (and Spinning Deer Hair in General). Could you tell me what I need to do in order to improve it? Thanks! I also tried to put a weed-guard on it! Tied on a 2/0 Gamagatzu B10S Series, using 4/0 Kevlar Thread, all materials were purchased from feathercraft!
  7. So for the thread I'm using is 210 denier flat-waxed nylon. I try using thin bundles of hair. I'm improvising for a hair packer with a old pair of pliers. finally my hair is somewhat course. Its medium length, and a little oily. I bought the hair at sportsman warehouse in their deer hair grab bag!
  8. I seem to be having two major problems when tying and spinning with deer hair. My first problem is when I spin deer hair the end result when I give my popper a haircut is that it doesn't have that tight compact deer hair look unless I cut the hair the extremely close to the shank of the hook. My second problem is when i go to whip finish my fly, I can't seem to keep the flared deer hair out of my finishing knot. Any help will be appreciated!
  9. I am stuggling to understand how to do whip finishes by hand. I have been forced to just tie a simple square knot and super glue it to keep it secure. I have tried looking it up on youtube, but I can't seem to transfer right handed whip finish to left handed whip finish. Can somone help me with whip finishing by hand for a left handed person?
  10. I just started to tie my own flys for fly fishing, and I'm looking for some basic flys that will be effective for bass. I have tied one cork popper that produced very well, but I don't want to tie just topwater. Also if you can tell me how to use the flies I tie that would be very appreciative!
  11. Hello Guys! I gave my popper its first field test and I was not disappointed! Both My friend and I gave this popper a try and we both caught bass, and a HUGE Black Crappie! I think the bass were maybe 1 or 2, and the crappie around 1! Here are some pics
  12. Also I tied a treble hook on the back with aluminum wire because I often miss strikes because the bass doesn't hit the main body of the fly, I figure this will help resolve that problem!
  13. My First Wine Cork Popper Fly This is my first popper fly that I have ever tied. I didn't have much material so I scavenged around the house to find a half empty wine bottle. I could not drink it because i'm only 15 so I asked my mom to finish it off. I used a power sander to taper the cork, then a razor blade to cut the cork. I decided to make this because I was sick of buying foam poppers that break within the first day of use, and I wanted to try my first tying kit that I got last week. If you could give me any tips or pointers for my future bass poppers that would be very helpful! Also any other patterns that I should tie for bass would be useful as well.
