  10. Hi, I was wondering, It is not likely I will be able to do much fishing but I do like to tie flies. How can I dispose of the flies I tie. i wouldn't dare sell mine they are not good but they might catch fish. I don't know any body I can give them to thanks Mike
  11. I can feel his pain, that is where I am at. But some of you have told me that even a not good looking fly will catch fish. M flys are sturdy and look like the sample but not pretty. I could never sell them. His problem is he is comparing his flys to one tied by experts not what will work. He also mentioned taking classes then he could teach his daughter. But he gets one thing out of it, time with his daughter. If she comes to enjoy tieing flys his struggles will have produced something

  15. Hi, I tried to tie a gold ribbed hares ear nymph. but I can't work with the hair because it sticks to my fingers and is hard to separate, And trying to dub is hard because it stays on my fingers. What am I doing wrong
  16. if you get a tool get a Matterelli they are easiest to use, I have a Thompson and can't figure out how to use it. last year there was a post here some body showed a one finger whip finish never tried it though
  17. that looks fine, let us know if it catches fish. If you can find some junk electric motors or coils use the copper winding for weight as well as body wire for your sinking flies. Any electric shops near you they throw things like that away all the time. Mike
  18. I am a beginner and I agree the fish are the ultimate judge. but for a beginner to be told just that is the same as being told " go figure it out for yourself ". I ask a lot of question and have received some very good advice here which I am very thankful for. But as a beginner I ask questions that seem a no brainer to the experts. What i am trying to say is that beginners as stupid questions but we need to learn. This is how I am other learn differently but a figure it out for your self answer doesn't help a person learn. That being said when I have asked questions here whether I liked the answer or not it was an intelligent answer patiently given and I learned from it. Thank you all for your patience and understanding and willingness to share Mike K
  19. Hi, know fast way but the best is to tack it out on a flat scrap board flesh side up stretch if you have some borax it firm cover it with that and let it dry. PUT it in a cool dry place where wify can't see it when you scrape it be careful the skin is thin use a spoon or other dull metal scrapper good luck
  20. I have one of those clamp stands and can't imagine using it for flies. you are doing a fantastic job keep up the good work mike
