  1. Some things I have done are, UTC thread flattened and built up after tying in the biots, and wire, slightly pulling the copper towards the bend of the hook while wrapping the copper around the shank and using thread that is a similar color as the copper for the underbody of the copper abdomen (this doesn't fix the spacing it just makes the spacing issues less obvious). Just whipfinish the colored thread when you are done wrapping the copper for the amdomen and start new thread when you start the thorax. One other thing to try is using a different size copper wire. Oh and one last thing practice over and over until its looks the way you want it to.

Just some things I have done.

  2. I am not part of this swap ... but tying 12 flies, for 9 people puts a lot of onus on the swapmeister. How is he supposed to "divvy" up the extra flies? Unless you're all going to donate the extra three flies to the SM.

Randomly is what I thought he said, but a couple extra for the SM doesn't bother me either.

  3. That is cool...I have a 5 year old who was soooo excited that he learned how to start and wrap thread around a hook last week. He was very excited. I hope he continues to learn to tie flies. I think that it would be great if he learned to tie as good as your boy when he is 8. Thank you for sharing.
