The actual fish spines would make this look better I'm sure. I'm too cheap so this was made with cheap hook shanks and bead wire. I made the EP game changers like this too and they look ok. So its probably just my wrapping technique with the feathers that is a bit off. We'll get there though haha.

Thanks! Yeah I actually talked to Blane in person two years ago about this pattern. Just got around to trying it for myself though. He's a great guy and tyer. I'll tie few more and I'm sure they will start looking better, haha. Thanks for the sub!

Oh thats ok. I'm not super worried about it. I was just curious if it was an easy change. Its all good. I'm still a troutbum at heart, so it suits me Thanks though!

First Attempt at a Feather Game Changer. Any comments/advice from folks who tie this regularly?

Haha thanks, Mike. Not changing target fish. I wanted to change it to "BlueLineAngler" just because thats what my youtube channel name and everything else is right now. I joined the site a few years back when I fished for trout exclusively. Now I guess my name should be "Everythingbum" since I pretty much fish for everything that swims now. Lol. I can live with Troutbum though. Just was curious.

Thanks Mike! -
Thanks glad you like them! Yeah, streamer fishing rocks. Sure better then the tiny midges I'm dealing with right now. They just stocked the river though with tiny fingerling, so I have a feeling I can throw a streamer soon as the large trout will be feasting on these tiny fish they stocked. Nice! good luck.

Hey guys, After all the stories I have heard about Montana, I just could resit any more. Finally booked a flight out there to do some fishing and just enjoy the area for a little bit. I will be out there from Sept. 3-11th. Certainly not as long as I would like to stay, but that's all I could pull off right now. I will be flying into Bozeman and meeting a friend who can drop me off and pick me up at different fishing spots throughout the week. So I would like to know, what rivers, streams, day hikes or other places should I be sure hit up while I'm out there? I really would like to hike up to a glacial lake if possible and hopefully get into grayling one day. Also I would like to target some big browns... Any suggestions/ help would be greatly appreciated!! Thanks!

Looks awesome guys!

Tied these up last night just messing around. I think they are good enough to catch a few fish but they still need some fine tuning...

The pond is a warm water pond with the typical bass, bluegill and catfish. But the club stocks it with large trout seasonally as well. We will probably target the bluegill just because they are the easiest in my opinion. Just trying get the kids into some action with a fly they created. I know that's all it took for me to get hooked on this amazing sport. Thanks for the ideas guys! keep them coming!

Hey everybody, I am putting together a pretty large youth fly tying and fishing event for a local rod and gun club. I have taught kids on a one on one basis many times but never in a group like this. We will have multiple tyers there but I am currently brainstorming about what flies to tie during the program. They will have to be simple as this is a beginner course and many, if not all, of these kids have never tied before. So I'm looking for easy to teach patterns with simple material lists. Right now I'm just thinking wooly buggers and maybe san juan worms for the young kids. The idea is to have the kids tie a fly and then take it out to the pond outback and catch a fish or two. (in a perfect world haha) Any help would be great! Thanks guys!
