  1. Bugs are en route... via carrier pigeon...lol
  2. Mine go in the mail Monday... Didn't make it to the post office today.
  3. Just finished mine, will be in the mail on Monday.
  4. As always, beautiful fly Hans! I cannot see where you tied the hackle off at, such a neat/clean head. Mad skills!
  5. Would love to step in with the SM's blessing, of course. -J-Kno
  6. Please be careful, I would hate to see it break.... I doubt it is an interference fit, not typically practical for the application, threaded seems most likely, gentle heat applied in case of thread-lock compound... Can you post a picture of the back of the handle (opposite of the jaws)?
  7. Helloween, Looking at it, I can only think of 3 ways it would come apart, please see attached file. Regards, -J-Kno Stonfo Vise.pdf
  8. Hahaha! RRSHS must have hit the post button between 1-59 seconds before I did, we both have the same time stamp... Good luck with tying it and please post up pics!
  9. Hahahaha, Oh the imagery!!! I hope no one was hurt....
  10. I don't know where to find it, but I would tie it on a salmon type hook, tie in the tail (black goose biots, then a white saddle hackle, some black and chartreuse chenille, weave the body (black over the top), tie off chenille, palmer the saddle hackle forward and tie off, dub the head, whip finish and lacquer/ head cement the threads.... Sounds simple when I write it out like that.... hahahaha
  11. This is very sage advise.... the package feathers are just a bag of frustration... I went through a full bag to find a dozen for a size 14 fly... I wound up biting the bullet and picking up a full skin. Lots of size 10 and up...
  12. I have been keeping my furs and feather in separate plastic bags (original packaging).
  13. I haven't seen starling mentioned yet, another substitute for smaller flies.
  14. Send them to me, for proper disposal.... lol.
  15. Thank you very much! Not real big, a little snakey but fun to catch! I only took pics of the first 3 I caught. Got the "slime stamp" of approval! This will be in the swap! Mylar over dark olive thread.
  16. I haven't seen a fly like this, but if someone else has, please site who is the originator. I'm calling it (tentatively) the Lite Brite Soft Hackle. It catches fish (as of today) too! The fly: The results: Not too shabby for its first outing... and my first time fly fishing in a long while (3+ years)
  17. Just got back from the river and used a wet fly with peacock in it, it did great! I'm in!!! Calling it a lite brite soft hackle, unless someone knows it as something else...
  18. Hahahaha, tru dat! or an interpreter...
  19. Charie Craven's book gets my vote. He steps through his flies in order of difficulty. brassie, then thread midges..etc. great progression.
  20. This can be a benefit with smaller flies especially,as your thread will lay very flat. I have tied both left and right handed and prefer right handed, but if I were just starting out, would probably tie lefty... Another benefit (to lefty) would be if you are showing others. If my son wants to tie flies, we will face each other across a table, he can follow, wrap for wrap in a mirror image. He is solidly right handed though for thread control...
