  1. I have been looking at them for quite a few times to put it mildly, and i find as most of you guys do that the first one is the one i most likely are going to use :-)

Your arguments for choosing the first one is absolutely within what think too, so again i thank you all for all the great support and views on the issue :-)

I agree. It was my first choice. Then I started thinking, which seldom leads to good results.

  2. I like the posture of the fisherman better in the top picture. I also like the lighting in the top picture. However, I like the way the line pays out in the bottom picture. It is more visible and parallels the mud bank at the waterline, thereby accentuating both. But, maybe the posture of the fisherman in the bottom picture depicts concentration, making it the better picture, overall.

    I know, not much help.

  3. Just an FYI ... if your parents want confirmations on Steve's business, I for one would be more than pleased to offer my recommendation. If you look at his specials he's offering at the moment, you'll find a CUSTOM BUILT rod, at way less than $200.00. I know that America isn't Canada, but it's hardly a "foreign country".

If you are dead set against that, then I'd recommend a Dogwood Canyon rod from BPS. I have one that is sweet. Light weight, good back bone, 9 foot 5 weight and the combo was $100.00 US. BUT ... all BPS White River rod series are made in other countries, so I guess your parents won't go for that either.

I can second Mike's recommendation. I have one of Steve's rods and can attest that his work is top-notch, and Steve is a class guy.

p.s. Steve, don't take it personally. Parents can be a pain in the neck. Just ask my children.
