  1. I was there all Saturday. I could not believe how empty it was. Lack of vendors has hurt this show. It lost 2 aisles from last year. Show promoter has to lower the booth rates and make it worthwhile for shops to bring their wares. I learned some new tricks and found some deals.
  2. Do you still need plans? My scout troop is going to build a couple from plastic barrels and donate them to TU.
  3. Wonder wax will go away again at that price.
  4. Nope. I can only tie on one at a time anyway. lol
  5. Nice. I gave up on spinning hair for mouse flies. I make the master splinter fly now. Fly is easy to make, has a crazy swimming action and it floats!. It has a tail like what Mike shows in the post above.
  6. My official table is in the basement but I never use it. I tie on a cardboard tray at one of the various tables in my house. This way I can watch tv etc. with the family.
  7. I fish almost every day sometimes twice a day. It never gets old.
  8. When football consumes my house I like to tie.
  9. Go to craft store and buy a storage box. Cut foam and add slits. Glue foam into box. Add Flies. [/url]">http://http://smg.photobucket.com/user/Bigred20/media/IMG_2210_zpsagkpph86.jpg.html'>
  10. I would not know how to cut those up. How do you process those?
  11. I took a chance on the bay with Dohimoto hooks. I've caught about 200 fish on them since and no problems. You won't know until you try a couple of a different band. Now if they would have a hook that would unhook itself from trees and bushes I would pay top dollar for them.
  12. When I reach that much I end up giving a lot to newbies to the sport. I also donated a lot to project healing waters.
  13. You need to get thicker skin. Its the internet where the keyboard cowboys act tough. Its been that way for years.
  14. Do you mean one of the black plastic handles over the hex screws that tighten the rotation of jaws or hold the shaft in the table clamp? I took off the lower one that tightens the shaft in the table clamp. I couldn't tighten it enough with my fingers. Taking it off, I can use an Allen wrench that easily tightens the shaft. Almost never touch that screw again. The upper one is more useful, since it stops the jaws from rotating. When mine fell off, I just pushed it back on, but it's not really needed. As long as the set screw on the opposite side of the vise is adjusted correctly, I don't need much force to free or freeze the jaw rotation. After many years of doing it wrong, I read this tip on a tying forum. Possibly this one. Thanks to whoever posted that tip! No its the metal handle that turns the vice. I used some thread lock on the threads and it seems to have fixed the issue.
  15. I have a issue with my Anvil vice. The handle wont stay on. I'll have to contact them.
  16. I can find no difference on both bottles other than the name.
  17. I just got this as a gift. Works ok.
  18. I have the plastic red one as well.
  19. I would post pics I took but I've not figured out how to post pictures to this site.
  20. This stuff is great. If you want a smaller size just stretch a piece over some steam and it will keep its shape. The pattern above is how Jack Gartside use to tie his "fish head" saltwater fly 20 years ago.
