  1. Sorry to hear that Nick, I hope her recovery is quick and easy.

Steve posted up on Facebook today he's over the hump still pretty fatigued, his mom is in the hospital but his post sounded hopeful that she will be ok.
  3. You don't need anything crazy for most fish the Lamson waterworks are pretty good have solid drag if you ever need it and well priced. Check Sierra trading post as well they often have good deals on old models or colors.
  4. The black bears I've eaten have been pretty good.

    Cabin build

Probably would've been best to dig the snow out of the cabin area, I haven't tried it myself but I imagine it makes a terrible foundation.
  6. Yes I do, not as often as bass is what's most easily available in my area but I do some trout coding as well.
  7. Bacchus thank you for the beautiful flys and box.
  8. All olive drab isn't gunna look prtty either, be ok with white trim. At the moment our shops are a pretty similar color scheme as I recently put on hardy siding and have been to lazy to paint.
  9. For some reason those letters make it look pricey.
  10. Got mine today, thanks again nick and those who supplied the bonus materials. On a side note whoever got the knife handwash and dry no dishwasher.
  11. It's stabilized buckeye, the pins are white g10, the blade is nitro-v stainless.
  12. Here's a few pictures of the knife I'm donating, as much as I was hoping not to use blue just so Mike would and complain about how someone else's knife wasn't blue enough they were these were the most suited cutoffs I had in the shop.
  13. I'm with you Mark, I expected "I fell while wading in waist deep water and my foot got stuck" or something of that nature.
  14. May get significantly better deals if you wait until summer to do the full replacement, I imagine it will probably be at least a break even if the temporary repair is only a few dollars.
  15. Well my blades still aren't back from heat treating, and when they do get back I'm going to have to push to get through all my paid orders in time for Christmas. I decided I'll do one of these sweet little paring knives in nitro-v instead of the bird and trout knife I had planned, if you win it it will be a nice addition to your kitchen, don't cook well your wife or mother might appreciate that your fly tying got her this sweet sweet piece of kitchen cutlery. Anyways anyone who will be participating in the draw want to request handle colors, last year Mike was the first to chime is and said it should be blue if I let him chime in again this year we all know his choice is going be blue.

I'm sorry for your loss Mike, we lost one of our two a while ago, he got a blood clot in one of his major arteries he was only 8 or so, I figured we would have him for several more years unless he paid the price for his freedom and got eaten by a coyote.
  17. I would like it but don't tie all that much right now, if no one else claims it I will take it.
  18. If you plan to do much smoking with it I would make sure you get one where you can control the smoke temp, some have different temperatures you can set but only one for smoking.
  19. Man that is one fluffy deer, looks like a great hunt Mark.
  20. Thank you Mark, I like to try to keep my lower priced stuff in a range the average person could afford and feel comfortable using. I started a Bagwell inspired bowie in 1095 that I'll probably ask more for. Here's a picture of the blade at it's start, .167 stock, I'm going to do a wrought iron guard, white/ivory paper micarta handle with (i think) a red g10 or micarta between the two layers of white paper, coffin shaped with small stainless pins around the border. I did a couple in stainless as well, I'm thinking I'll do mokume guards on those.
  21. Man that's a long wait, I hope they get it done soon.
  22. Any word on when they'll start putting up the walls on your shop yet Mike?
  23. It starts around 150$ with a basic handle some of the chefs knives have a 10 inch blade so they would be 200+ more steel, more work, more consumables (grinder belts). this one would be a bit more than 150 as the handle material wasn't cheap, not as expensive as the stuff Mark has on his fancy customs but still not super cheap, it's also available.
