  1. Awesome application of that packing product. It shines just like the wings of a moth that we have up here in Alberta. Can't wait to try it out!

    Glo stuff ...

Thanks for the reply, Flytire. Interesting product on that link and I do want to get and try some McFly Foam. Still searching for this other prod though, it was some sort of goo that you could apply on practically anything to make it glow.

    Glo stuff ...

I was surfing the net and I saw a product and a pattern using it for a glo product that came in a tube like s-tac. Does anyone know what that stuff is?
  4. Really nice looking hoppers, Flypimp. I like the proportions, body, legs, head and colors! I haven't tied or fished one yet! Bet the fish love 'em!
  5. Thanks for sharing, Graham. I really enjoy your style of writing, the step-by-steps and the awesome photos. P.S. I want an autographed copy when your book comes out! Yah, I know, I know! That's how rumors get started! Seriously though, Thanks again. Keep those articles coming.

    Cricky Mate

He went out doing what he loved to do, though! Very sad for his young family, Australia and his many fans.!
  7. I am at a loss for words to describe how awesome this site is! It seemed all-encompassing from the first day I stumbled across it but it keeps growing and developing beyond imagination or expectation. As I have said before "the guys that turn the wheels, the mods, the site set up & philosophy and the positive attitudes displayed by the members here are amazing". Virtual Fly Tying Classes are one more example of above and beyond! Looking forward to trying one out. There shouldn't be a shortage of topics or hosts; there is a lot of talent, enthusiasm and willingness to share floating around these forums. I can already see a "Best of FTF... DVD with a blooper reel at the end! Thank you for your time & effort.

Ditto that, Madkasel! Thanks for the step-by-step, Fry Flyer. I had NO idea! I'm going to save this tip, for sure.

  10. Those are spectacular! I love that pattern. The colour variation in each fly is so attractive.

    Threader b-day

Hope you had a great one! :yahoo:
  14. I love bugs especially spiders. I would love to have one of these on my hand, the Bug museum staff said that this spidey wouldn't bite but I don't believe em. When these spiders are working on a hopper, their mandibles, fangs, whatever they're called bend up and down in a curving motion. That leads me to think they could sink their teeth into you if they wanted to. Why would the Museum guys say this spidey wouldn't bite?
  15. Do any of you guys have these in your yards, they are a regular sight in my Albera yard. The local museums bug room calls them a Jewel Spider. They have a cats face on their back. We usually have a lot more than 4 in the yard, the most we ever had was 13!! Their abdomen is about the size of a small gum ball. They range in color from sandy to mottled drk grey/drk brn. They build large orb webs and are fun to watch when they catch a hopper. ZOOM, SPIN, GAME OVER! Every spring we see a batch or 2 of reddish babies, 300-500 huddled in a cluster on our screen door, when you blow on them they all drop a few inches like little parachutists then climb back up when its safe. I move the cluster into the bushes in the yard. I would like to tie one someday!
  16. You aiming to clean it up, reorganize or a do a big reno? You look fairly organized. I am still using the kitchen table to tie on, all my stuff is in a large zippered binder except for the feathers. I do have a little wheeled table that will be good when I do finally set it up properly, probably in the winter. Do you have a good work flow ei: access to materials? That is what would drive me nuts?
  17. Hope you're having a great one! :yahoo:
  18. Awe inspiring and amazing! Can't wait to show my boy this one. Wicked, crazy, cool. You are the "Anisoptera Rex" !!! I hope that translates into "Dragonfly King"! O.K. I'm done! I'm going back in to look at that one again! This one really had that predator feel to it!
  19. Welcome to the site. Look forward to seeing some pics of your flies, fishes and scenery.
  20. This is an awesome site, Funnel30. The gang is here is great (very welcoming, helpful, positive and always willing to share their opinion, knowledge, advise or expertise) , mods and admin are great and this is such a comprehensive and well organized site! There is a wealth of info stored in the different sections here. You gonna love it. Ask questions, jump in the swaps, share your adventures and show us pics of your flies. Catch you later.
  21. We have an all white cat ( one blue eye, one green eye) that is as soft as any rabbit! I would like to use the Petit-Jean dubbing tool with it. Haven't tried her out yet, though! Lulu (black lab) was really easy to tie with, snipped off a tiny bit of fur from behind her leg (longest area). Figured there had to be some water resistance factor?

    It's been a while

Glad to hear that your family is getting looked after and set up properly. That black mold is bad news. Best wishes and high regards to you and your buds over there. It should keep you in good spirits checking in from time to time on the "crazy buggers" at this site.
  23. that's some good advise and suggestions guys. My eyes coldn't get used to bifocals or reading glasses, I will look into Lazik surgery one day. Look forward to testing out some of those options you suggested.
  24. Wow! Your website is an awesome resource and a great escape for a bug lover like me. Wow again, you are granting people access to another world! Thanks for sharing. A labor of love, obviously!
  25. Very useful info, Mike, thanks. Yah, harsh white background would be bad and the same with lighting that is too bright too. There is a fine line between what adds strain and what doesn't, at least for my eyes. Hope your peepers hold out for ya.
