  1. That sounds like a great day. Oliver's a charmer, I can tell. And he's so cute.
  2. Thanks, I don't mind telling how I did it. Essentially, the ones on the left end were done my old way- dubbing and the bars done with wrapping floss. Most of them, the ones I like the most, were done with mallard, teal and gadwall flank feathers for reticulation, wrapped with dubbing. I'm still working on the technique but when I'm totally happy with it, I'll make an SBS or maybe even a video.
  3. Twenty or thirty tails in, I feel like I'm just getting the Mayfly tails dialed in.
  4. Saweeeet. Great job. Be careful out there. Both very nice fish.
  5. Sounds like a pretty good Sunday. 'cept for the Eagles part.

    Have a good appointment.
  7. And you caught it in the ocean? 😁 He's a chunker for sure.

It might, if Alaskans had more children than all other states per capita. How come you're still up? Since you're not next door having a beer, isn't it getting late at your house?
  9. You must not be having a good day. Cheer up, it'll get better.😁 Is that all I have to do to get you to stop talking to me? Didn't know it would be so easy.
  10. I can fit in one or two more float trips, then the water gets hard. Regards, Mark

Wouldn't per capita be the most accurate measure for a large state with a small population? If it was just done in total boats owned, we'd surely be on the bottom. The weather, and we carry a lot of stuff.

It's a statistic I read in a paper boating magazine. I did Google it after you gave me permission too 😁 and I couldn't find anything with per capita data newer than 2014. Most everything I found newer than that was gross data. Can you show me a link? Not that I need to check up on you, I'm just curious. I found one from 2016 that said Minn. was no.1 and Alaska 9th. Arizona was 23rd in 2016. So I wonder why the huge discrepancy.
  13. That one's a chunker. What's the fly?
  14. I've never fished the transplants in the great lakes. They were just starting to get hot there when I left Minnesota. I knew there were some guys getting Atlantics from the tributaries of Lake superior. Gosh, it's been so long now, they could have been steelheads, I don't remember. (36 years ago now) At any rate, that's what we see here in Alaska too.
  15. I got up, finished cutting up the moose and caribou meat for this year. Put some caribou ribs on for four hours with a dry rub. Had some seafood chowder for lunch made (a couple of days ago) with all wild caught smoked salmon, rock fish, halibut, king crab, prawns and ling cod. Then, I went into the fly tying room to start cleaning it up but I got side tracked with some tying projects that had been left unfinished on the bench. Three hours later I'm still side tracked perfecting extended tails for Mayflies. Boy, what a good day. I hope you're having a good Sunday too. Tell us about it.

Yep, advantages and disadvantages to everything. I wouldn't be able to ice fish without a truck, heaven forbid. Alaska has the highest rate of boats, private airplanes, pick-up trucks and labs (retrievers not meth) per capita of all the states.

We have two, be lost without them. I'm not saying yur a girly man or anything..... Car's generally don't have enough clearance for the white stuff and they don't make snow plows that fit on cars. We also carry a bunch of stuff around.
