  1. Of all crab patterns i have experimented with... this is my all time favorite. They are cheap and quick to tye, dont retain much water, cast great and look awesome in the water... let me know what you think!
  2. Haha mike this sounds like a good thread separate from this one though. Its always good to talk to people that think the same way that you do and have done their research. love this forum for that reason
  3. I really like purple as it is the last color in the spectrum that fish are able to see in low light conditions. In dark water they can see purple the longest than any other
  4. I will just say... it is not a small number... we just keep to our own because not many people in society understand the passion we have for creating these little bugs... people don't understand what it does for us so we don't talk about it without being in a fly shop... just my opinion That being said, I would say in North Carolina there is probably between 25,000 and 50,000 tiers with a total population of 10.3 million. Just a guess... CT
  5. I am purely just curious... what would you guys call these flys? Woollys, glimmer leaches, buggers, grubber??? Like I said im just curious and dont want to catch an evil eye calling my flys the wrong thing... Also, what species would you throw these at???
  6. Shrimp are one of the most consumed forage for most saltwater fish especially in the Cape Fear NC area. Show us some of your shrimp patterns!
  7. Hey everyone! share your favorite streamers to tie!!!
  8. Hows it going everyone! I just wanted to stop in a share my first woolly bugger with everyone... I am more of a streamer guy but decided to give woollys a try!
  9. Hey guys, I was recently asked by a friend to replicate the Lexos popup crab by Umpqua tyer Lex Hochner. Let me know what you think!
  10. Hello all, i was just wondering how you fellow fly guys adjust to the cold weather and water of the winter. I am located in cape fear North Carolina and right now the water temp is about 55-60... It will literally jump five degrees overnight. Trout and red drum are being found pretty regularly right now but I am curious how you guys adapt to the dark cold months ahead.
  11. Good morning good people! My name is Cody Thomas and I live in Cape Fear North Carolina. I have been tying for about three weeks after getting frustrated with box store flies falling apart after two good strikes from a 2lb bass... I am really enjoying everything about tying so far and have seen exponential improvements in my technique and overall look of my flies since my first baitfish. Please let me know what you think good or bad ill take it all. Tight lines everyone! CT
