the psychic fair in our town was cancelled....due to unforeseen circumstances

just curious if any one has tried the eyelash yarn i put in with the swap fly

was in our local home depot . walked past a display of new floor mops . the mop knubs were almost 2 inches long so i had to buy one for 11.99. im sure the mop refills will be cheaper. nice gray color made for larger mop flies or even a wacky mop fly . mop head is about 2ft by 10 inches , a long time supply. only time i seen long mops bodies was from a truck dept that had 2inch bodies on a mitt used for washing big truck wheels and it was orange they work well tied on a 1/32 jighead with a # 4or 6 hook

i have used patons bohemian chenille since 2010 its been discontinued since 2018. its used by rainys on richs ultimate worm. closest ive come to it is cozy occasion yarn or furl some yarn bee faux fur then trim it. good luck rich

palmer chenille has more flash but is stiiffer. ill add some eyelash yarn with each fly for the swap

think it is the premier eyelash yarn. great stuff at 3.99for 200 yards

i have been playing with some ned style weighted flies. they might give you another road to go down. i use a 90 degree hook and tie a brass or copper nail to the bottom of shank. this has also lead me to using an aluminum roofing nail then it stands up on the bottom. for more weight i add a washer the size of the nail head. i do grind the nail shank flat on the part that i tie to the hook,and taper the point i call it the redneck ned rig

i have used the gamakatsu glo bug hook .short wide gap but they dont make bigger than a small size 2

when my daughter went to nmu in the 2004,5 . i bought my first good fly rod from a shop downtown had a big lake trout in window.it was a redington redfly 5-6 wt.she worked at wahlstroms restaurant for a few years while she was there. never fished when visiting , wish i did

the liquid ,not powder

tested them again monday the fuzzed out flies do go backto the straighter shape when wet. and they dry that way too.did notice that once they got wet they sank slow but after another cast you had to wait again for it to sink. sounds like some weight is needed flies colored with a prismcolor marker stayed vivid.

m ore comments after drying overnight i brushed them out as they were twisted and tangled. brushed with toothbrush,velcro and plastic comb. no matter what i used it came out frizzled. fibers feel softer. tried using prismcolor markers on new white fibers seems to work nice.i think the dyed fibers may work better on smaller crappie size flies and jigs . i will tie several up and see how they do when they get wet again. the rit liquid did turn out best colorwise, koolaid the worst and it also smelled like black cherry.

tried 3 batches all with white long wool 3x3 patches . 1st was 2cups of hotwater with 1/2pack of yellow rit powder definitey yellower tips are darker but that may change when dried. also added a white bucktail. was in the pie tin for 40 mins. bucktail is not as yellow as wool 2nd was 2 cups of hot water and 3 caps of liquid rit in gray t stirred for 40 min nice medium gray ,tips darker i liked this the best 3rd was 2cups of hot water and two full packs of kool aid in grape and black cherry. same timein solution but didnt cover the middle and base of fibers tips were ok i will wait till they are all dried and combed out to make my final decision. i will try sharpie or prismcolor markers saturday

i picked up rit dye and will get some kool aid tomorrow hope to test both of them in the evening .and will report back.
