  12. Will its kinda a hard decision to make. Yes i would like to see the chat room and i along with some others have tried to catch someone in the chat room that we have right now but theres a few things that a "new" chat room would need to make it a good idea. One is right now there is no way of knowing who if anyone is in the chat room...i have jumped up ther and saw a member or two posted "hello anyone there" and replied only to find that they are gone. So if you do a new chat room there needs to be a display that shows who is in it at the current moment. The other thing is right now you can only type about 20-25 charcters and thats it...you cant really put more than a few words to gether at one time so that would need to change. So if its gonna cost big $ to get a good chat room going then i'd say wait awhile about doing it or if the one you are considering has those features then maybe i'll discuss helping you out with the $ when we get together in PA next month. I guess i'd say lets see what the vote is first SD
  13. Thats one of the biggest GLS i have seen a picture of,but i have heard and read in linesman's books about john kluesing (guide on the PM river) getting clients into 40" steelhead on the Pere Marquette Hard to judge the # of that fish in the pic because of the angle of the fish but it is a big ol girl! SD
  14. J.J i will go ahead and take the pics once i get the flies from the swap so consider it taken care of. SD
  15. QUOTE (flyfishenvy @ Dec 3 2003, 03:16 PM) do you think a 10fter would be to much for the small rivers like the pm or lil man?? of course i guess it wouldnt matter much since if i got one i would still have the shorter rod to use in cases like that. flyfishenvy i use my 10'er on the flywater of the PM and it is not to long remeber your only talking about a foot or so here so its not really a huge difference. It even comes in handy in certian situations for me on the PM that helps me to get a drift i couldnt get to with the 8'6"-9' rod, theres one hole that i fish ALOT and it has a log sticking up near the far bank that always has salmon stacked up behind it. With my hieght and the 10'er i can wade out and extend my arm and just bearly get a drift behind that log....somthing that i cant do with the 9'er. Besides that its not a big difference. If you are interested in it (i think you live here in MI?) you are welcome to borrow my 10'scott sas next time you go on a trip and give it a try if you would like, then you will know if you like the 10'ers enough to go out and buy one. If you do then just shoot me a pm SD
  16. I have a question for you guys that i have always wondered about, cottonwood seeds! I have heard for along time about carp eating cottonwood seeds, are you guys talking about the whole seed and white "fluffy" part that floats around in the wind? Do they have alot of nutritinal value to them or something? SD

    Joke

Here we go again Two friends were out hunting in the woods as they were walkin along the one guy just falls to the ground...the other guy was scared since they were out in the middle of no where so he picks up his cell phone and calls 911 he nervously tells the operator "i-i-i think m-m-my bu-buddy just died w-what should i do" the operator tells him "sir first make sure your buddy is dead" so he says "o-o-k hold on" the operator waits and hears a long puase of silence followed buy a loud "BANG" the guy comes back and says "ok now what?" SD
  18. Well i just got an email from the guy he said that ebay debited his account after he wrote the check and he didnt realize it so thats why the check bounced. He is supposed to send me a MO for the entire amount on friday so we'll see if he does, ethier way i have learned a valuable lesson about checks on ebay! Hopefully this will work out SD

  23. Never tried heating the bodkin steve but thats a good idea....esp with the way i always seem to glue the eye shut on my trout flies! SD
  24. With the recent addition of BDH going on the PA winter steelie trip it brought to mind that some guys "new" to winter steelheading may not have all the tips to keeping warm here in the winter wonderland i call home so i figured some advice would help to keep them from getting frost bite First off bootfoot neo's are a must if the weather is very cold,i have made due with breathables and layers under them during the mild winters but this year seems way colder than last already so bootfoot neo's are a must. Under the neo's fleece wader pants are great but if you dont have them then i wear thermo long johns with a heavy pair of sweatpants over them.Stay away from wearing jeans as they dont retain body heat very well. Also thermo socks are a good idea. For the upper body one word........LAYERS! i start out with a t-shirt then a thermo shirt over it,next i put on a long sleeve "fatigue" style shirt then over that i wear a pull over fleece. Over the fleece i wear a hooded sweat shirt if its really cold, then as an outer shell i wear a wind/resistant coat. A hat is a must in the winter steelheading game....in the winter i wear a full face mask rolled up as a hat and if i get cold then i just pull it down...although then you look like a bank robber out fishing Gloves are another must ....i like to use wool glaves as they seem warmer than neo gloves to me...BUT if you wear wool gloves make sure you have 2 pairs, one to wear and one to keep in the back of your vest because while wool gloves are very warm....WET wool gloves are NOT and when you hook that big 15# steelie and go to land/release it the last thing on your mind is your gloves so they are bound to get wet. On the kinda days that make you nose stick together and your teeth rattle i have found that some pocket hand warmers both in the pockets and dropped down in your wader boots help to get ya warmed up. Lastly a small thermose of coffee can be a life saver....against what some might tell you alcohol does not help to warm you up if you think a nip will keep you warm quite the oppesite, alcohol actually lowers your body temp so it will make you colder! Hope this helps to keep everyone safe&warm out there this winter......everyone feel free to add tips if i missed anything! SD
