  1. 17K and they can't even offer free shipping? ๐Ÿ˜†
  2. No differences between these two. They are both the Xi series that I bring in for euro rods so only thing is the color. Single foot guides do have a number of "slight" advantages over double foot guides. But the advantages are very small so it is almost not something that is in fact more than personal choice. The advantages are that they are lighter weight. Not necessarily the guide itself, but the fact that it only takes half the wraps and finish as a double foot guide. On a normal 7-9' rod that might not make a big difference, but when you are going out to 10' range saving even a tiny bit of weight that is "swing weight" does help some. Also IMO they do allow for full uninhibited flex of the blank. If you think about it with a normal double foot guide rod you have 9 to 10 1.5" long spots on the rod where there is a piece of metal somewhat rigidly attached to the blank as the blank itself bends. With a single foot guide you don't have that happening. Again, this is a very very small thing, but when you add up a few of the small things I think it's worth it. The only "con" per say is that single foots are not quite as durable as double foots. With single foot guides you have to be careful sliding rod sections into tubes/cases or when moving them around in a boat. Because with the guide standing straight up you can pretty easily bend one out of shape. It can be bent back to shape but if you do that a couple times on a trip you risk breaking one and needing it replaced.
  3. Latest pair of rods off the bench for a customer. Pair of 10' 3wt 4pc, one in burgundy with garnet wraps and the other matte black with black wraps. Both with rosewood seats, burl grips, no butts and SF guides.
  4. Good to hear Norm ๐Ÿ‘ Did your power stay on as well?
  5. Would like some feedback on handguns from those that own/carry. I go for my CPL permit next week, so plan to buy a handgun after that. I've been into guns my whole life, but always long guns, rifles/shotguns. So Handguns are somewhat new to me to a certain extent. So once I go get my CPL next week I'll be looking for a handgun that is concealable. I have been looking and have it narrowed down I think to two, both Glock. One the Glock 26, the other the Glock 19x. Any input on these or others ?
  6. I can totally relate! Even though the city I live in is a upper middle class type city and you would "think" the grid would be good, it is not. We lose power here at least 6-8 times per year. Even some times when the sun is out and no rain/wind. It's just nuts. I bought an 1800w generator about 7 yrs ago just because of how much we lose power here. It died during this last outage last week, so I'm picking up a new bigger 3500w one next week. Hope yours stays on and no issues. Let us know how you guys are doing when ya can.
  7. Another pair of rods just off the bench. There are 7'6" 3wt 4pc with rosewood burl seats, burl accented grips, metallic red and silver on one and black and silver for the other.
  8. Stay safe Norm. Been a stormy summer this year. I had a few days last week without power due to some crazy storms with 70mph winds that ripped through SE Michigan. We had over 600,000 without power for a few days.
  9. Most of my rods are on my own blanks I have for my company. These are the classic series which is a mod to mod/fast action matte black finish.
  10. First rods of a busy few weeks ahead are just off the bench. Pair of 9' 5wt 4pc with carbon fiber seats, burl grips, black wraps tipped in single turn of metallic blue.
  11. Looks like those 11'ers are gonna be an even bigger seller than the 10'er are. I just ran a pre-order for them on FB and sold out with in 20 hrs ๐Ÿ˜ฒ
  12. But I'm still waiting on the check you sent 6 months ago ๐Ÿ˜† Yeah I'm not a fan of 5pc rods, but it will probably work well for an 11' er for guys that have smaller cars.
  13. Oh we are happy for you... currently printing out a Mark Knapp dartboard picture ๐Ÿคจ
  14. New inventory for the fall is now in. 60+ blanks with some new sizes. Have had a lot of requests for some euro rods other than just 10' 3wt so now stocking 10' 2wt's as well as a new size which is 11' 3wt 5pc to see if that size is going to be desirable to customers. About 100 new reel seats, few hundred burl cork rings and couple thousandth guides/tips are now restocked as well. Lots of building to do this fall.
  15. Still tryin to talk Mom into getting a pair. Hopefully she will finally give in sometime soon.
  16. The "good" of today with cars and electronics has it's draw backs as well. Case in point, just yesterday the rear gate on our Yukon will not open. It's an electric lock and does not have an actual key to unlock it so I can't even get in the back of the truck now. In the good old days I'd just take the round GM key and be able to unlock that sucker no problem. Personally I feel the good ol days of my younger years (70's - 80's) were far better the the current days far as pretty much everything goes IMO. But it's all a matter of personal opinion and what you feel is "better/worse" when it comes to each thing in life. I know people definitely treated each other better back then that's for sure.
  17. Yup. Each chapter is ran by a volunteer so look into another chapter to donate too. A good friend of mine in Pa runs his local chapter and it's amazing how much he has invested and done for the chapter he runs. So don't let one exp with one chapter turn you off of the program. I have worked with them myself numerous times over the years with donating stuff and they are a great program that helps truly great people.
  18. 100% with ya on that. I'm serious when I say I honestly hate to even get out of the house anymore these days simply because of the stupid way people drive. Some of the stuff I see people doing makes me wonder if an IQ test for a license is in order. Prime example today ...I went for a short bike ride, waited for the crosswalk signal to turn for me to cross, thank God I pay attention FOR idiots driving because the cross walk for me had switched to "cross" for at least 5-6 seconds when some jack$$$ turned left against a red light without even paying attention to the red light nor me crossing. Anymore you have to spend 50% of your time on the road paying attention for other people!
  19. Is anyone that uses a phone to access the website having it show oddly at all? I had one friend show me it was coming up weird looking on his phone so didn't know if it was just him for some reason or if anyone else had it doe that at all.
  20. New website- I am not 100% sure this link will work. I have had many issues with the website host company I have had for the past 17 yrs. Last week was the last straw when my business email was not working yet again, so I decided to build my own website with Wix. I know nothing about building a website, but think I've somewhat taught myself like anything else in life you try to do. If you want to do it bad enough, then you can do it. Here's the new Midwest Custom Fly Rods "beta" site. Any feed back is welcome. Still need to move my main domain name over to it. Still needs a lot of work, but hopefully this will be the start of the new site. https://swclark71.wixsite.com/mysite?fbclid=IwAR3CqsshF1mcCZqxOEkkGq3ZXgkcsxpuLN17rd5YtPL16RVWGhzZKW-nUGc
  21. Looks like a fantastic time Mark. Absolutely beautiful pic ๐Ÿ˜Ž (Grayling taking the fly) I think I'd have a hard time not enlarging and framing that one.
  22. Latest 10' 3wt euro rod off the bench. This one has a nice pop of color to it with the metallic purple main and the lighter metallic purple trim on the burgundy color blank.
  23. It's because of the rounded lens distorting objects that are closest to it. If the rod is out about 5ft away from the camera it looks straight like it should, but when its held within 3ft of the camera it distorts it. Happens to all Gopros because of the lens shape.
