Snared this winter snowshoe yesterday - the white hair on the mask is just amazing! Should dye fantastically with a marker. Quality back legs, too, for Fran Betters “The Usual”.

Setting couple snares this week - I’ll keep you posted.

I live in northern Ontario, Canada and snare one or two snowshoe hares each winter for their hind feet (and I do eat the rabbits). I love tying with the waterproof hair from between their toes (Fran Betters The Usual is deadly). I’ve been thinking that I should also keep the snowshoe hares’ masks since they’re a thick beautiful white fur. They’d dye wonderfully, too, I have to think. Even colour easily with a marker. Has anyone tried using a snowshoe hare’s mask as a substitute for the commercial masks you buy? Any reason they won’t work??? I have to think they’d be superb.
