  1. Google Feather Emporium, click on Dry Fly Hackle and scroll down. BB
  2. I have a full set ready to go the Mosko. He’s going to be well taken care of. No worries there. I would just hate for everyone not to get 1 of his flies. All kinds of things happen with the mail. I have even had swappers have their set returned to them because of some glitch with the address. Just a little thing like putting the house number as 309 rather than 390. So, I’m inclined to give it a few days to see if they turn up. I was hoping they would come today, but no joy. BB
  3. THIS SWAP IS CLOSED The final round of the Well-Stocked Fly Box Series will be your DLHWOI Fly! And it’s the perfect way to close out this series. If you are going to have a well-stocked fly box, it MUST include your DLHWOI fly. DLHWOI stands for “Don’t Leave Home Without It.” Everyone has one. That fly that you always count on. That fly that has paid off in the past. That fly that makes the fly box complete. OK, so each swapper will tie up a set of their Don’t Leave Home Without It flies, and anything goes. It can be any type of fly, like Emerger, Wet Fly Soft Hackle, Streamer, etc. So, the choice is yours. But we seriously want your DLHWOI fly, even if it’s your secret weapon. But again, we are thinking a trout box, so you might want to avoid big, saltwater flies and LMB bugs. Or, if you really want to tie some of those, include it as an extra. (I think I will.) Let’s have some fun with this. Who wants in? The due date will be July 5 with an absolute cutoff of July 10. BB Swapmeister 1. Woodenlegs - Stimulator - Received 2. 4. Ok Guys. I have gotten the flies divided up, but in the process, I have run into a problem. As I receive the sets, I put them in a cloth bag, I guess some might call it a “tote.” It has cloth handles. Anyway, when I spread them out, there was 1 set missing: Mosko’s. I have asked him and he says he sent them, and I’m sure he has. The roster on the first thread says that I received them, but I can’t find a post where I let him know that I received them Mosko says that he mailed them a little more than a week ago, and that the mail around Denver is slow and that a letter to his parents took 10 days to arrive. If I had received them within the last week, I would remember that. When all of this started, earlier this afternoon, I was trying to remember all the sets I have received 2 and 3 weeks ago. Ok, that said, here is what I’m going to do. First, Mosko, I am so sorry for this, especially since it is your first swap. Let me assure you that after years of hosting, and lots and lots of swaps, this has only happened once before and the missing set DID show up, eventually. Next, to everyone else, I am going to wait a couple of days to see if Mosko’s set shows up. Also, due to the generosity of all the other swappers, there were enough extras to make up a set for Mosko if his set doesn’t show up, and I will be sending them to Mosko, If all else fails. Also, due to the extra effort of Pickin6ofem’s son, you will all get 2 different patterns from Pick, so you will be getting back at least 10 flies. Just wanted to be up front with everyone and let you know where we are. I will keep you informed of further developments. BB
  5. Hey Guys. Just wanted to let you know the Nikever’s flies arrived on Thursday and all sets are in. I hope to have them in the mail on Monday. Also, I will be posting the final round of the Well-Stocked Fly Box either today or tomorrow. Watch for it. I think you will like it. And it’s a great way to close out this series of swaps. I can say that because the idea isn’t mine, but came from 1 of you guys. You won’t want to miss it. BB
  6. We received 3 more sets today. Stabgnid, Johnw1986, and Vicrider all got their sets in today. Also Shmang’s set arrived recently. All sets are great and you guys can start looking forward to some really neat flies. Thanks to all. BB
  7. Small shadow box. Try a craft store like Michaels.
  8. Pick, your flies are very nice, nothing to apologize for. I just had to tease you a bit about your son’s flies. I’m sure there is still a lot his dad can teach him? BB
  9. Just wanted to let you know that we have received 2 more sets of flies. Pickin6ofem and Majestyja both have their sets in and they are very nice. Also, as a nice extra, Pickin6ofem’s son tied up a second set and sent them along. Tell you what; Pickin6ofem is going to have to pick up his game if he’s going to stay up with his boy. Just kidding, but they are 2 well-tied sets from Pick. BB
  10. Flytire’s flies arrived today and let me tell you they are SWEET! Excellent work. They deserve a special spot in the well-stocked fly box. Thanks, Norm BB
  11. People in your family probably didn’t understand all that was involved. They probably looked at it and assumed it could be replaced for a few dollars. They didn’t know the difference that a well -functioning vice can make. After all, all it does is it holds a hook. A pair of vice grips can hold a hook. It takes guys like those of us who have tied on $10 junk and who have also tied on a reputable, well-made vice that is a serious financial investment to celebrate with you. Nice work. Glad you got it back in operation. Happy tying. BB
  12. This swap is now closed with 10 swappers. Each tyer is responsible for 10 flies and you get back 10 flies, but not 1 of your own. Happy tying. BB
  13. Hey, Guys, good news. The last set of ‘chutes arrived yesterday and I was able to get them in the mail this morning. Our Post Office is only open for 1 hour on Saturdays, (go figure) from 9 - 10, but I “got ‘er done.” One swapper sent a little more cash than his flies cost, another sent not quite enough cash, and one sent none at all. So, all in all, the swap only cost me $4 and 2 envelopes. You guys are getting better. Thanks to all of you for participating. When they arrive, I think you all will agree that this is a very nice set of flies and well worth including in the Well-Stocked Fly Box. BB
  14. Absolutely, Mosko. You are in. Excuse me if I failed to reply. I had too many irons in the fire yesterday, and for that, I apologize. Are you new to the FTF? Let me know when you have your set ready and I will PM my address. We abbreviate that to ‘Addy’ around here a lot. If you have any questions, do not hesitate to ask. If you want to have a private conversation, a PM (private message) just click on my avatar (the little picture of me holding a large mouth bass) and it will take you to the PM page. Works the same for everyone. BB
  15. Hi, Shmang. You are in. Happy to have you join us. That puts us at 6 swappers and the ‘Meister, which leaves us 6 more open spaces. Sign ups will stay open through May 10. If you are thinking about joining, we would be glad to have you sign up. BB

  21. Woodenlegs, Flytire And Stabgnid, you guys are all in and welcome. Flytire, I’m glad you decided to join us. It will be good to be swapping with you again. I look forward to seeing what you will come up with. Thanks, Guys. BB
  22. THIS SWAP IS CLOSED As promised last month, this round of the Well-Stocked Fly Box Series is for a Trout Jigs as used in Euro-Nymphing. I am asking that jig hooks be used because they run through the water with the point up. I am also asking that the hook be no larger than #12 to keep this a trout swap. If you need ideas about the patterns, Flytire posted websites with picture in my post from a month ago. All the usual rules apply. Include a SASE with your flies, please. Be sure to have enough postage for the return. You will tie as many flies as participants and not get back one of your own. Extras are, by no means, required. Due date will be June 5, with an absolute cut-off, without an extremely good excuse, by June 10. Be aware that the mail here seems to be running a day or 2 slower since coronavirus. Hope you will join us in this round. Also, I want to let you know that this is the next to the last round in this series. Doing this many swaps in this short a period of time is a job and I need a break. However, Vicrider has contacted me with a suggestion, and the more I have thought about it, the more I have realized that his idea is the perfect way to end this series. I can’t wait to tell you about it on June 5, (but I will😀). BB Swapmeister - Ginger Snap 1. Woodenlegs - Napolean’s Dynamite - Received 2. Flytire - TBA - Received 3. 23. Not much, John. I ended up using my knife to cut the plastic liner away from the return envelope the get it out of the other envelope. Then I could pull the plastic liner off the return envelope so it wouldn’t feel sticky. I will use some packing tape to seal it up when I am ready to mail it back. That won’t take but a minute. I just wanted you to know why I had to use tape to seal it. BB
  24. Today was a big day for flies. We received 3 great sets of flies. Relax, r2732, yours was the first set I opened. It seems that the mail is running a bit slower since coronavirus hit, but it gets here. Also Pickin6ofem has a very nice set in. Thanks, Pick. Good job. And Johnw1986, your set arrived today. I had a strange issue with yours that I’ve never seen before. The plastic bubble-wrap liner of your envelope stuck like glue to your mailer near the flap and the mailer flap is sealed. I don’t know if I did it or not: I opened your package, as I do all the flies with a knife and your return mailer was open across the end of the flap. I can tape it up, no problem. It’s a quick and easy fix, but I wanted to let you know what happened. The flies look like a great addition to the swap. Thanks. BB
