Thanks for the comments and it seems the more I tie the more I want to. Thanks again, Skip

What to see what you guys think of the colors and paint job. Only problem is that my pic makes it hard to see the eyes. Also I hope the tail is more like it should be, I am not sure I can make it much shorter as I seem to just end up with a longer tail that I plan. Thanks, Skip

For my standard chenille I buy Danville and I buy it from them. I do use other chenille that they don't sell like Krystal Flash Chenille and Crystal Antron. The only problem with buying from Danville is unless you sell you work like I do especially my crappie jigs you have to buy too much at one time. You have to buy 144 yards of each color and or size. You can buy the same chenille for less from places like Barlow's Tackle in skeins, but if you buy the stuff on cards expect it to be crushed more. Most any fly shop supplier has the same chenille and you will be happier if you buy chenille that is made for tying IMHO. I think most people that buy chenille from Walmart have trouble with it as it's not the same chenille. Yarn and stuff like that is different though. Skip

Thank You and you explanation is perfectly clear to me and I really appreciate the info! Skip

I have no clue if this has a name or not, but if not maybe I will call it Beaded White Wisp. Also looking for any constructive criticism as to what would make it better. Should I put some white hackle? Maybe I will tie one like this that has no bead and call it a White Wisp. Anyway thanks for looking, Skip

Thanks AL and nice site you have with good info! I do have a question and please know I am new to this so maybe I have a dumb question. Folding Hackle, please explain what this is used for or why, I feel like I should know this. After it's folded do you still use it the same way when wrapping? When tying woolly buggers is that something that would work for them or is it just for the hackle at the ey of the hook? Thanks, Skip

As soon as I finished tying it I realized the tail should have been about 1/2 that long, so next one will be shorter. Thank you, Skip

These are the same kind of poppers and hooks you use. I did epoxy the hook in with 5 min. epoxy and don't need a turner for that with using that small amount even though I have a turner I made, I didn't use it. I tied the tail material on after the hook was in. I painted mine and I do the eyes with paint and coat the entire thing after with clear coat. Thanks, Skip

Thanks and shortening the tail hit me right after I finished, LOL! I can't wait to give it a try. Skip

Thought I would see what you guys think. I got a tiny bit of paint on the legs, but that will happen since I paint after putting the legs in. I really didn't think out the color pattern, but it still cam out OK. I have a lot of ideas about this stuff. Skip

rubber leg beetle or spider as I call it

Thanks! Bites like that keep you coming back looking for that fish that got away. It pains me when I lose a good one and at the same time it makes a good story that we enjoy telling. Much of what it's about. Skip -

I had that link already saved and just didn't realize that was the same one. I like it better with the chart color indicator. Thank You, Skip -

I like that fly a lot. Can you tell a little more about how you tied it and the order. Maybe if the pic was a little clearer as I can see into the dark areas very well. I do like it though and would like to tie me up a few. Thanks, Skip -
I had a big switch of some kind go out on my AC about a month back and I looked inside the burnt piece of junk and there was some copper windings and I broke it open and stripped it off and way more than filled an empty thread spool. I do know the ultra wire comes in colors other than copper and it is Non–tarnishing copper. SO I have some of both the ultra and recovered from a winding. Skip

Here is where I got the pattern along with tying instructions.... http://www.flyanglersonline.com/flytying/f...052801fotw.html Also you will need to be watching for the crappie to move shallow next spring and that is when I plan on using this fly and I can't wait! Skip

I really like the looks of this fly so I tied my first one just now and here it is....

I am not 100%sure I am answering your question right, but I use a home made hackle guard when I need to keep the hackle away from my whip finish. I use a piece of a plastic milk jug that I cut a circle out and them make a smooth hole in the middle and cut it from the out side into the hold. Don't make the hole much bigger than the hook eye. Hope I got this right and it helps, Skip

I have a lot of thread and a lot of it is 6/0 Danville. I would be willing to sell you some of my thread if you want. I can make you up a group of colors with one spool each, however most are 200 yards a spool. I think most all of mine is waxed. I don't know if you use any larger thread, but I also have a load of 210 Denier waxed. Let me know if interested, Skip

Thank you all for the kind comments as I do appreciate it! I know it's kind of hard to see, but here is a copper wire rib. Thanks, Skip

Am I crazy to use these colors on this Woolly Bugger or is all fair? Also any constructive criticism is welcome. Skip
