  1. Hi all, after having seen some posts on Jack Field's instagram about using tungsten "thread" (really a thing tungsten wire) instead of normal tying thread, I'm curious if any forum members use it regularly or at all. I can definately see how tying with tungsten wire can pack on weight without bulking up the profile of the fly, but is the effect significant compared to weighting flies with lead and using a thin conventional thread? Is the difference worth the cost of tungsten wire? It sounds like a cool concept bur im concerned with the ability to make neat/invisible whip finishes in front of dubbing collars etc.
  2. Other than Bass Pro or Cabelas, what other online stores would you guys recommend for buying materials. I just started and the local Cabelas here doesn't have squat, and we don't have any fly shops.
  3. I am using Veevus thread to tie my first soft hackle fly; unfortunately, it is unwaxed, and as I start to tie on the hook, it keeps moving along away from the eye. What does everyone else use to keep the thread from moving while starting to cover the hook?
  4. I find myself wanting to get a smaller thread for tying midges. What brand and size thread do yall use?
