  1. I used to live in Corpus Christi, Texas and would catch fish non stop. However recently hurricane Harvey came through and destroyed much of Port Aransas and Rockport, and Huston got hit really bad as well. It seems like much of the fish have moved from my normal spots, and It was very difficult over the last 3 days trying to catch them and find them. I saw only one redfish in the whole 3 days of fishing, and only a few speckled trout. This was the last day on my trip, and I ended up doing a bit of a hail mary and went on the jetties in Port Aransas. I was going out to see if there were maybe some Tarpon or Jacks at the end of the jetties. I also thought there might be some sea trout, and even a few bull reds. While I did see a few people catch some bull reds, they were using live bait, and sinking deep to the bottom, where my fly could not reach. Unfortunately the only fish I caught was a needle fish, and they were everywhere shredding my flies. I did see a lot of sea turtles though, so that was really cool.
  2. On our 2nd day fishing in the gulf, we decided to try and kayak to find fish. The day before we saw many fish popping the top out of casting and wading reach. So we figured if we got out to where they were, we would catch some. We were wrong. This day was super slow. I got 5 perch, and Johnny got a small rat red. Not what I usually expect on fishing trips in the gulf. I usually catch fish left and right. However, that storm that came through before my trip down to the gulf really sent many of the fish deep, and the ones we did see weren't as active as usual. http://youtu.be/alP8Ytf_5EY
  3. The devastation of hurricane Harvey was terrible in Rockport and Port Aransas. Just so sad to see all the trash and debris. Especially since Port Aransas is such a beautiful little town. I was shocked to see how much got destroyed in the hurricane. But luckily Corpus seemed to be in full working order, and I was able to spend some quality time with my buddy. Wading this first day was difficult, and it was tough to find fish. Also the temperature was in the high 80's and the sun was pounding down on us. So being in waders was a bit uncomfortable. However it was a nice day, and we had a great time fishing even though we didnt catch very many fish.
