Soft hackle swap. In the mail

Recommended Posts

A bit darker variation of Lil Dorothy will hit the PO box tomorrow:

Floss & thread darkened with cobbler's wax (thanks to the generosity of a certain member here and on another site, finally getting the hang of using the stuff) added brown and orange to the thorax dubbing, and light ginger hen hackle.

And...my 13 drowned egg laying caddis are on the way also. Swapmeister gets the extra.

Unlike the proverbial check, the flies are in the mail.

The pattern is a March Brown Spider. From "The Soft-Hackled Fly and Tiny Soft Hackles" by Sylvester Nemes, here's the recipe (page 142):

body: Mixed hair from hare's face
rib: Narrow gold (small gold wire in this case)
hackle: Brown partridge
tying silk: Orange

Enjoy!

I mailed flies today.  Recoveronthefly never sent hers in.  I think there are extenuating circumstances.

Somehow I misplaced Woodenlegs flies.  I have turned my house upside down looking.  I wrote everyone's address and will mail them when I find them.  I am embarrassed.

May I suggest (with the approval of others in swap) that when you find them, it might be better to donate them to a TU chapter or something similar,  to be auctioned off.   No reason you should have to pay for all that postage.

Things happen. Thanks for hosting.
