St Croix river in Western Wisconsin

Recommended Posts

We finally got out fishing for the first time this year. We floated a section of the St Croix with a guide. Beautiful day, with lots of sun. The water was up, but was clear and very fishable.

The guide wanted to try them to get an idea how things were going for subsequent trips. We used 7 and 8 weight rods. I was pleased with the percentage of spots we hit, including the tight lies. What a nice way to start the season.

Nice smallies. And surprised they are hitting top water already this early, very cool.

Ditto!

I'll say.  And that is one cool fish.
