Been curious about doing tube flies.  Mostly a Steele/salmon thing.  Wish I had some Rhea feathers and Cockeyes.  I instead tried a tube shrimp.  Liked the mat’l combo so had to put it on a hook....🤔

Walleye_Wrecker_1080.jpg

Walleye Wrecker

Kevin Kirkelie

Hook - Long shank streamer hook, #4

Thread - Gray

Tail - Pearl mylar tubing (frayed from body)

Body - Pearl mylar tubing over shaped muffler tape or substitute

Wing - White bucktail then peacock herl

Collar - Chartreuse hackle

Notes: While walleye isn’t a common target for fly anglers, they will indeed come to the fly. These piscivores can be picked up on streamers and the combination of chartreuse and white can be quite a productive color combination.

SBPatt, I’m lil confused but I’m kinda slow on the uptake anyway.  How do you keep all the names straight?

Nice shrimp. If I knew how big you were I could say "Nice, Shrimp" maybe.

I'll tie a few and give them a shot, have tried my luck at Mt. Tom (CT State Park) they stocked with walleye have had better luck thru the ice. nothing on the fly rod yet maybe I'm not getting deep enough?

Just trying to be funny again. failed at it again. If you're about as big as me, I can't call you a shrimp. I probably shouldn't any way.

Your flies are all fine, but please don't send me any. I already have way too many. I have a better plan, come back up to Alaska and you can use them yourself. Let me know when you are coming and I will see if we can plan a trip together on my boat.

I lave the pictures. They are tops.
