Fly Tying

Recommended Posts

As usual I am not totally pleased with the result, but as I've said many times - we are all our own harshest critic.

I tied the wing with all subs except for the peacock secondary feather. Everything else in turkey dyed the usual colors as well as specialty work from McLain for Kori and golden pheasant tail. That is shown in one of the photos. I thought it might be fun rather than using the real stuff for a change...things like swan, Kori, golden pheasant tail. Turkey is easy to work with, but it can be difficult to shape and add curves. It always seems to want to stay straight and be a pain in the butt that way.

Feel free to comment and offer thoughts.

I think it looks great, but beauty is in the eye of the beholder.  I quite like you used more readily available subs but it is interesting to learn about how the different types of feathers behave from your notes.
