Bruce Derington 0 Report post Posted November 18, 2024 So sad, Mike was a big inspiration to my adventures in tying Classic’s. Love his books and videos, more importantly he was genuinely a great guy and mentor
SalarMan 0 Report post Posted November 18, 2024 When I was developing my interest in tying classic salmon flies, I purchased Mike's books direct from him...and as always autographed by him. He always had time for this beginner's emails and photos through which he offered critique and helpful tips to encourage me along the path to improve my work. RIP Mike...you will be missed. Ephemerella 0 Report post Posted November 20, 2024 RIP Mike! I was fortunate enough to have met him at the Fly Tying Symposium about 13-14 years ago. A gentleman, always willing to answer questions, provide tying tips, etc. His books are well written and have excellent photography (his, no doubt) showing various techniques for tying the parts of a classic salmon fly. -Peter
