Don Stracener 0 Report post Posted July 18, 2006 Goody... You ask for a couple of recipe's. King of the waters. Tail - Red hackle Rib - Gold tinsel Body - red floss Hackle brown brown/tan partridge tied in front of the hackle Mosquito Tail - brown/tan partridge Rib - 1 strand white floss Body - black floss Hackle - looks like a dun color with a darker middle. That should get you started. It will be fun to see what kind of changes you will make! :kicking: Swap guidelines.... Use the pattern you pick to create a fly that looks like the original, doesn't have to be EXACT. Use materials available today which will create a more durable fishing fly. Example: Red hackle tail could be red calftail, or red teased poly yarn, or something else. You not not limited to synthetic materials. Goal is to create a group of flies that have the look and feel of the original but can be fished without falling apart.

Don Stracener 0 Report post Posted July 19, 2006 fly time. Seems like an interesting swap idea to me. A lot of interaction and good ideas! :headbang: When we get all the fly photo's for the finished flies I bet we have a collection like few others. 7 now! Threader - ME - Cal Royal Coachman and Dusty Miller (2 PATTERNS) fly time - IN - cali. coachman and Cahill (2 PATTERNS) Gray Squirrel - IN - McGinty Moushka - IN - Cutthroat Fly add the bee... (2 PATTERNS) Herman - IN - Black Gnat and the Gray Hackle Peacock (2 PATTERNS) DNA - IN - Red Ibis and the White Miller (2 PATTERNS) Goody - IN - King of the Waters? Mosquito?? (2 PATTERNS) I'm done doing my Green Agent flies for a local swap and nothing else I need to tie. So I'm on the CDC cal Royal coachman first and then some experiments on the dusty miller. It's summer and looks like any swaps are slow to get going. The other summer swaps I hosted all had 6 tiers as I remember and everyone did 2 patterns. We already have about 13 patterns being tied. These guys are all good tiers! :headbang: anyone else up for a second pattern?
