Inconnu 0 Report post Posted November 7, 2006 I tie on a very old dark oak desk. I use a white desk pad from the stationary store, as a background. You can write on it, wipe off head cement on it and when it gets too dirty, you just tear off the top sheet and your good for another couple of months. For the folks new to tying, a background is important cuz it helps relieve eyestrain by removing the clutter behind the fly that your eyes see. I use a white background, but any soft color works well.There are a few backgrounds made that clamp onto your vice post, but they can be expensive ($30+/-). This is a really good idea, thanks.
