Epoxy pad

I don't use epoxy very often, but when I do, I mix it up on one of those sticky note pads. When you're done, tear off the top sheet, throw it away, and you're ready to go again.

That's an awesome tip. Does the paper have any effect of the epoxy?

I have heard that the color of the paper will bleed into the epoxy and giving it a tint. Others say that the epoxy just yellows with age.

I do the same thing with the PostIt pads. I've used a number of different color pads and have never had a problem with the epoxy being discolored.

I've been mixing 5 epoxy on the sticky note pads for years now. I have not seen the epoxy discolored from the note pads.

What I know about epoxy discoloring is"

1- using old 2 part epoxy, the hardener will turn a yellow tint when it is old.

2- UV rays causes discoloring.

3- The water you are fishing turns the epoxy off color.

 

Just look at the finish on the guide wraps of your flyrod. The finish is usually 2 part mix also. It also, will be off color.

5 epoxy = 5 minute epoxy...getting late!!

I have found that the epoxy sold as Canadian Tire 5 minute epoxy stays clear but most others are cloudy or yellowed. Ppare colour will not bleed into epoxy. Merry Christmas folks.
