Timed Exposures....

Here's something a little different. After a heavy rain I wanted to try to get shots of a car going through puddles and splashing the water high in the air. I wanted to try to capture motion and movement without freezing it. This is a little challenging because of the speed of the car. You have to guess what shutter speed will blur the motion. Yet, be fast enough to capture it. Too slow won't capture it and too fast will freeze it. I tried several shutter speeds around the area of 1/8 to 1/15 sec. This was the best of the few shots I managed to get. I wasn't entirely happy with this shot. A little less blur would have been better. Maybe 1 f stop faster would have done it.

This is one of my fireworks shots from Manatawny Park in Pottstown, Pa.

I shoot fireworks with ISO 100 slide film. Bulb exposure setting at F11 and hold the shutter open until the fireworks are done going off. To see more of my fireworks,

Nice work FlyTyingPhotographer, very nice. I shoot fireworks the same way you do, f11, bulb, and try to get a timing cadence going with the show to capture the launch, explosion and pattern drift.

Nice pictures Benjamin. Welcome to the Photo Corner. You certainly have an eye for the eerie. If you ever decide to make a horror movie, I know where you can get all the creepy crawlers you'll need.

Thanks guys..Its funny what a 3.5 minute exposure will get you, when to my eye it was completely dark..No filters were used..I was at 18mm ,ISO 200 and f/3.5..
