Wow! Is it spun hair? Where's the hook? How's it constructed? I think it might get chewed up after a fish or two, and you might have trouble getting it to keel, sink and cast properly. I don't do much with spun hair, but I'd think about maybe a spun head and a yak body with some flash and you'd have a winner.

Can you elaborate on how it's built? Actual fly construction makes a big difference on an esox fly's longevity and service life.

But you definately get points for style and effort! If anyone appreciates original flies, it's me; and this fly is original. Thanks for sharing!

That is true! Dolphins and whales have horizontal tails, while true fish have vertical....just a bit of trivia for y'all!

I made it on a bet  A couple of Friends of mine didnt think I could make a Dolphin!!!

So I tuck that Bet and this is the final product. This is the first one and I'm going to make more to throw for Muskie & Pike.

1st: I made this one By tying the tall first, Natural on the top and white on the bottom, this is poled back.2/0 3366

2nd: I started my next hook 1/0 streamer, First weed Gard #40 mono 5" long, I then attached the tail with #40 mono. Next I stack deer hair White on the bottom and then natural on top. But before I move on I stack two more layers of natural on the top. Then I packed the Hair as tight as I could get it and repeat this half the way up the Hook.

3rd: I tied the Last 1/0 streamer hook in to the proportions that I had made. With #40 mono. On this hook After you secured the hook with your Big Fly thread you can cut of the hook. Now you can continue with stacking the Deer Hair like in the 2nd step. If you want the Fins just add in some Long natural deer tail. But trim thee other hair First.

4th: You finish stacking all the hair to the Eye of the Hook and pack it in very tight all the way. Now for the fun Part you get to trim all of that hair But don't trim of your fins  After that you can add you eyes I like the 3-D eyes Red my self or gold 5/32".

5th: You add your Flexibly glue any Glue as long as it will move when a fish bits it. You add this to the tail and to the fins. Now they will hold their shape and still move with out braking.

P.S. This fly should last a quiet a will with the thread and the glue!! :yahoo: :headbang:

Thanks: tyrite (Glen Dayton)

Thread and glue not withstanding, how will the hair itself last? I've not used hair bugs on pike or muskie in a long time because they end up looking like hammered whale ass after a couple of fish chew on them. You're using something like Softex on the fins?

Is there any weight on this fly? All that hollow hair, you'd be hard pressed to get it down and be able to swim it with any action.

I will now more on how long it last this summer!

As far as it sinking it would be for fast striping on the top of the water!!!

Like a torpedo.

Nick Pujic has some good spots for Muskie that we might try it!!!I always have the Moira river.

we will see. :dunno:
