Mating Scuds/Gammarus

Recommended Posts

Need to play with the lighting to get a better balance of translucency and contrast up front I think. Any thoughts?

Sweet Will.

Man, your making me want to run out, get a small aquarium and start trying this :)

Only thing I can think of atm is adding some translucent material to the back side..Like a green or dark green cellophane. Kinda like what your get for gift baskets.

Any thoughts?

Those are some amazing shots. The light on the second set looks better. Nice work!

Ty all- these are the toughest images I've played with in ages- it's very hard to hold onto the transparancy and subtly of the leg structures. One processed with a different approach and a weeee baby in the pic:)-

My only critique is background color. In the first 2 shots the blown out white highlights of the background are a little hard on the eyes. A neutral gray background such as the following 4 frames were much better I thought. Nice job Will ! I never thought I'd be critiqueing scud porn. LOL !

Yep Flytyer-

The first couple are pretty loose in terms of quality. I tend to get excited and then work out the kinks as I move along.:)) I like John's idea of a coloured translucent background as well, just have to sort out what look I want. I'm timid with color.

Will,

Are you the same person who posted ealier with some pictures of hatching insects from some pond or creek water you had dipped and put into your aquarium? Those at the time were great.

These are spectacular. You get a great view of those little dudes. Keep posting pictures!

Thanks!!

Ray
