Silverfishflies 0 Report post Posted June 10, 2008 I had a request to tie some popping flies for shark in orange & red combinations, and the colors I found for the heads reminded me of popcicle flavors. Using Polar Pony for the wing of the tube flies allowed me to build a rather large castable fly without bulk. The hooks are the new Partridge 6/0 Big Game, and the wire is 80lb coated. Silverfishflies 0 Report post Posted June 12, 2008 Thanks fellows, It's not often that you'd want to throw 12'' poppers, however these flies are easy to cast and the fact that they are tubes, allows them to slide up the wire leader and let you play the fish on a bare hook. I don't expect that there will be much left after a decent shark bite though. What doesn't get chomped to pieces by all those teeth will get sanded to the wrappings by sharkskin.
