letumgo 0 Report post Posted January 17, 2009 I think the name should be changed to "Very Stimulating" Excellent tying & pattern. I can see this working on a wide range of species (trout, bass, steelhead...)

KevCompton 0 Report post Posted January 18, 2009 Hi Socallies23, Which hook are you using here? Just curious. You mention: "bent hook used to get the tail below the film" Are you bending the hook yourself or are you using a stonefly nymph hook? Thanks, Kevin

socallies23 0 Report post Posted January 19, 2009 Thanks for all the great comments guys/gals? I just started tying in june this was my first pattern i developed. As for the hook I use a standard hook and make the bend myself haven't had any issues with breaking yet. I know that some hook companies make a bent shank hook but the non custom models are cheaper. Anyways thanks again and glad you enjoyed my pattern. And yes it floats like a cork even when fished in a dry dropper system or through nasty swift current or riffles. I also ty them in black and gold as stone patterns with superfloss rubberlegs. photos to come soon CHEERS Matt
Whiskey Creek 0 Report post Posted January 19, 2009 Matt, I really like this. I think I'll tie a few for the salmon fly hatch this spring. It looks like a black poly-yarn tail would be cool also. Great tie! John
