Just what is your all-time favorite bass fly?

Recommended Posts

Chartreuse and pink gurgler. Best largemouth ever, almost 29"L x 20"G - taken in 12' of water over hydrilla. Haven't come close to this in almost 2 years.

A delicately placed cockaroo( http://www.flytyingforum.com/pattern8697.html ) or starling( http://www.flytyingforum.com/pattern8696.html ) always takes the largest, most fisherman shy bass...at least for me. If for some reason that doesnt work (which wont matter much anyway cause I wont be fishing, due to the fact that its the day of the apocalypse) an olive bunny leach.

for the bucketmouths, gotta go with a deer hair bug...the bigger the better...

for smallies...."number one go to in any river, anytime fly " is a felt backed / zonker claw variation of the Clouser Craw...out fishes other flies five to one in my home waters.

For the Australian Bass, for surface i like to use whats known as a Gutless Frog( as seen here http://texasfishingforum.com/forums/ubbthr...ATED_With_Fini)

and then for searching deep i like to use a Bass/Bream Vampire( as seen here http://www.illawarraflyfishers.com.au/flyt...ss_vampire.htm)

Those 2 patterns are the most successful i have found

STP Frog in large size

Deer Hair mouse (different variations)

Large foam poppers (tons of different variations)

large dragonfly patterns

This is the first year ive fished bass with the stp and it is a killer largemouth fly, easy to tie, has a great underwater silhouette, and easy to tie numerous flies in one sitting

Small (size 8 or 10) hard foam popper. I've caught everything from a 2 1/2 inch bluegill to a 4 1/4 lb LMB on 'em. Of course, the bass destroyed it, but... Oh, well.

Yellow popper, deer, foam or wood, I think it dosn't matter. But black is good too. And then the damsel nymph. Or the purple or black wooly buggers. Blackrabbit thing nymph, kills the blue gills. and the devil bug.
